05/4/2018 14:38 | It sounds a lot but I don't think I'm rich at all, my family are, all joking aside I am really the poor one of the family | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 14:36 | I tend to pick one or two stocks and go all in . May not be the best way but it concentrates my mind. I do act on impulse sometimes and this has got me into trouble a few times. However overall over the years I have done very well. In the last 1.5 years I’m up 18% | whatsup32
05/4/2018 14:35 | Yes careful, it's about 1.5 million a year I do normally. Two years ago it was 2 million, and three years ago it was 2.5 million | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 14:29 | £6,000 in stamp duty? That is £1.2m of purchases. As we said previously, that is a £24K purchase, followed by a £24k sale, about once per week. ...but charges do mount up over a ten year period. I like to keep total dealing charges to below 1% of my portfolio. Any more cripples performance over several years. | careful
05/4/2018 14:29 | It's a lot more than me Nortic, but about 95% of my purchases have been CDI | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 14:22 | JPI've just had a look at my Sharescope portfolio and I've paid £153,301.86 in stamp since I left the City in August of 2013.I should do CFD's but I don't trust myself with leverage. | nortic 007
05/4/2018 14:21 | The strange thing careful Ive never really been on slot machines, never done the lottery, I could walk away now and not look at it until a years time. I might have to wait a few years before it gets there unless there was a takeover here | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 14:20 | This is a topical subject on April 5th. We shall soon compile our CGT facts and figures for the taxman. How many pages, that just about sums up our activity. | careful
05/4/2018 14:15 | I quite often had to pay 6,000 in stamp duty alone, it's a lot of money. Going back to all shares you should not have to pay stamp duty, but the Government you say something different lol | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 14:15 | Are you addicted to dealing? Could you give it a rest, how long could you go without trading. Is life empty when the markets are closed? ..beware, their are signs, just like alcoholics, compulsive gamblers, smokers. | careful
05/4/2018 14:12 | Yes careful you can save a lot of money, it only as to go up just a touch and if you buy and regularly it only cost £6 to buy. Now you know why a lot of investors only buy them | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 14:12 | Jp Nortic Had you both paid the tax we could have covered the national debt:) | whatsup32
05/4/2018 14:11 | True careful...it can be slightly misleading. | nortic 007
05/4/2018 14:10 | JpIt's only a rough guess but I reckon I've traded £125m worth of GLEN over the last 5 years.......scary but fun :) | nortic 007
05/4/2018 14:07 | £2m bought can be a statistical trick. Even if you only had £10k, and you bought and sold every other day for 2 years, you would have recorded £2m of buys. ..but you would have saved a lot of stamp duty with Glen and others. | careful
05/4/2018 14:02 | Sounds great. Certainly will make it easier to trade | whatsup32
05/4/2018 13:53 | Without looking at records I have purchased, if they were all added up about 2 million pounds of Gencore and about 500,000 pounds of IAG | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 13:49 | I had a long spell where I never bought ones with stamp duty Glencore & IAG. :) | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 13:46 | Yes try it whatsup, put say 5,000 press to see how much the total cost and you will see no stamp duty. | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 13:44 | Thanks jp I was actually following IAG and TUI as possible purchases, didn’t know they were duty free. Love that word DUTY FREE :) | whatsup32
05/4/2018 13:39 | Sorry whatsup, just got back. Yes the list of company's you don't have to pay stamp duty on ( there HQ is not in the British Isles) are Glencore ---- IAG ( old British Airways ) ------TUI ( who bought Thompson Holidays) ------ Rangold ------- WPP ------ Ferguson ( old Wolseley ). You do not pay stamp duty. I said in my earlier post I made 1,400 in one day but if I had bought say Barclays where you pay stamp duty I would have actually made a loss.So has you can see it makes a big difference. A company only has got to go up a small amount and as long as you cover your buying charge and this is all profit to you. There is a growing number of investors in this country that only deal with no stamp charge company's . I have put posts on here before about it, I expect you missed that one. These are CDI | jpjohn1
05/4/2018 13:38 | careful. Would seems so ,but then this was the agreement made when they were employed. Have a look at how much the Chair at Berkeley made in bonus. Sit down first | whatsup32
05/4/2018 13:36 | Free money but nothing surprises me these days. Let's hope they can prove their wealth to us. | nortic 007
05/4/2018 13:30 | Any views on the director share transactions announced today? Seems generous amounts awarded under the incentive scheme, some sold (for tax losses?) last day of financial year. | careful
05/4/2018 13:27 | If there is a bid for the company then I wouldn’t worry about the dividend too much :) | whatsup32 |
