I think it wrong that we let politicians get away with pulling the wool over our eyes. They should be held to account and if they are not then we deserve the government we get.

My point is if you want to find the utilities accountable then why not the insurance companies and why not the local councils. Why do I not have a choice about paying my council tax. Why do I have to pay for services that I don’t need like libraries or social clubs and other lunatic ideas they seem to come up with. Why can’t I have the option of asking another council to compete for my rates.

Having competition is fantastic for the consumer. Look at telecommunications , my bills have been going down year after year and the services getting better
How do we get this message across that the government should be there to govern , collect tax’s and redistribute. They are not there to run businesses

9611, excellent post and something which should be highlighted to the meddling politicians. My council tax is way more than my gas and electric, problem is dolers don't pay council tax.
