'Meanwhile, the bill for rescuing the customers just of just the seven customers who collapsed between August and mid-September could reach £826 million, according to an estimate from Investec. Those costs will be spread across the market, adding £30 to households' energy costs.'The system is well and truly foooked, nationalisation will happen IMO.

HTTPS://www.simplyswitch.com/ofgem-readies-special-administrator-for-failed-major-supplier/Energy companies have already cautioned that few will have the resources to absorb millions of customers, especially because the amount they can charge under the energy price cap is far eclipsed by wholesale prices. The cost of supplying a typical household is now thought to be £550 above the price cap, meaning potentially billions in liabilities for the supplier of last resort.Even the largest companies aren't interested in gaining customers in this way."If you think this issue covers two to four million customers, because there are a lot of suppliers out there, you could be talking about £2bn, £3bn, £4bn, £5bn [in liabilities]," Scottish Power chief executive Keith Anderson said. "I don't need these customers."

I have bought back into Saga again although I was hoping to invest in Centrica. It seems that the Centrica share price has been virtually stagnant for months now and the future for the company uncertain. No point getting caught in this 'value trap'.

Great to see Centrica Flying.... Saga down again!

Diohohku, Saga finished BLUE today. It's also up from the 120s since October 2020. That's nearly a 200% increase. You called it wrong! Accept your mistake.

How can you use the NHS as the model for nationalisation of the energy retail sector? - like comparing apples with pears. The present system isn't working, as a shareholder here I'd expect nothing but a blinkered view of the "system". It's broke and will have to change, namely nationalisation. I'm just pointing out what could happen, as both sides of the political divide have mentioned it then IMO only a fool would discount it as a possibility.
