Spoke to HL, as long as you were holding at open you were entitled to the dividend, hence, the drop this morning. You can't buy now for a divi and you could sell now if you bought before this morning and still receive the divi. Looks strong to me, holding for the foreseeable . Reckon this was a stinking acquisition and we will go from strength to strength . Also, great reversal in price from this morning and remember the buyers today are not entitled to the divi.

Well whatever, good performance for an ex div share. Ill wait for div date.
According to WEiss's fractal maps gold likely to have a monumental bounce from 1200 end nov or so. Other metals may lead before that.

The dividend timetable is given here in the interims:

"The CAML Board has declared an interim dividend for the period of 6.5 pence per ordinary share. The interim dividend equates to approximately 24% of the gross revenue for the period and will be payable on 27 October 2017 to shareholders registered on 6 October 2017."

"registered" is the "record date" which is the day after the ex-dividend date. A lot of companies explicitly give the ex-div date and the record date. It just so happens that CAML doesn't in this case.

I think it works that way because if you buy the shares on Wednesday, it takes two days for your name to appear on the register of shareholders, so that CAML knows you are eligible for the dividend.

I don't think it's a typo - their reference to 6 October was probably a reference to the 'record date' which is always after the ex-div date. Ex-div dates are always on a Thursday

HL is showing x-div today, which would mean you would need to be holding shares yesterday

Think it is a typo on the interims, you could put a call in to Investor relations -Louise Wrathall - +44 (0) 20 7151 3639, to be sure

The XD date is 1 Day before the 'on the register date' so XD is today 5/10. My screen shows down 3.5p at the moment for a 6.5p divi which seems a positive indication.

Zinc hit a new 10 year high this morning at $3,235/tonne, some 55% up on the 2016 average price of $2,093/tonne but still some 50% below the 2006 all time high.

The 5 year LME Zinc warehouse stock level has fallen every year from 1.25m in 2012 to todays 0.24m tonne.

" Why does the Kazalh copper worker earn one sixth of what his Chilean colleague earn?

For largely the same reason(cost of living) the minimum wage in the UK is up to ten times more than in some Eastern European EU Nations.

With around 100 million people living in EU Nation's where the GDP per capita is barely one fifth of the wealthy EU nation's, its why the UK and Germany has seen a 10 fold increase in immigration since the these Nation's joined the EU and their mostly poor but often well trained and very hard working citizens became able to live and work anywhere in Europe. Prior to this it took the German taxpayer 2 trillion euro's to modernise the old East Germany for its 13m citizens.

Used to employ over 650 Romanian Seafarer's on a fleet of vessels i ran, on T&C's and rates of pay(£10/hr) that were 20% superior to the International Transport Federation's guidelines followed by most global shipping companies like Maersk, to ensure retention of these well trained, highly experienced and valued people.

It generated a greater than 99% staff retention rate, largely because our rates of pay were more than 10 times the minimum wage in Romania!

Some were so wealthy in relative terms, that after a decade they were living in luxury properties back in Bucharest that would not look out of place in West London, and bought for a tiny fraction of the price.

FT today - Life and Arts - THE INFORMATION WARS - Well worth a read on Kazakhstan and the political structure,3 pages - if for nothing else on the political situation and the implied participation of the Nursultan Nazarbayev circle into most buiness activities.

No direct link to Central Asia's business save for a quote attributed to Ablyazov " Why does the Kazalh copper worker earn one sixth of what his Chilean colleague earn? Answer.: because Nazarbayev runs the thing ......" Draw your own possile conclusions.
