because the other company is bigger after doing the class tests related to takeovers

Would explain the relatively muted/controlled upside of the share price to the recent $0.55 rise in the copper price since July.

If CAML were the acquirer why the suspension? Isn't it more likely a smaller private company making an offer for CAML?

Anyone seen any press on this? Not wildly happy about suspension, especially with copper driving through $3.15, but will have to sit it out and see what they are up to. Hopefully as management are well thought of (at least by some) it will be a big plus for shareholders.

I expect it will be a cash and shares deal, existing shareholders will end up with a lump of cash ( should be more than current share price ) plus some very much diluted shares, the company will keep its listing which may be a useful way of a local copper producer to quickly and cheaply get a london listing

Gary - CAML are potentially the acquirer of a larger company/assets.

Have exactly the same scenario going on at another of my largest investments SAVP.

CAML are the acquirer of a larger company, if a deal goes through

I read it as a smaller company bidding for CAML

I am a bit confused by this announcement as to whether CAML are the acquirer of a larger company or whether they are being acquired by a smaller company.

It's CAML bidding for a larger company. Not a company bidding for CAML

The takeover target is a larger entity than CAML, hence a reverse takeover

Thanks, very positive then !! Anyone seen the press comment from over the weekend. 40% bid premium or will it be a low ball offer ??

Will be a shame to see this taken over , bought for 70p in 2012 and since then it has paid 50p in divs ...

One would guess the company involved doesn't have the cash balance that CAML enjoys. This is great news IMO, exactly what needed to happen, a one project company doesn't make a good investment proposition in the long run.

Definition of "reverse takeover"For these purposes, a reverse takeover is, essentially, an acquisition by a listed company of another company or business where the assets, profits, consideration or gross capital of the target company/business are greater than that of/for the acquiring company, or an acquisition which would result in a fundamental change in the business of the acquiring company. When a listed company completes a reverse takeover, the FSA will normally cancel the listing of its shares or other securities, and the company will be required to re-apply for listing. To do so, it will need to prepare a prospectus and to satisfy the relevant eligibility requirements. The latter are essentially the same as on a new listing.Previously, an acquisition by a UK listed company of another UK listed company was not treated as a reverse takeover. The new rules clarify that companies that have a standard, as opposed to a premium, listing will be subject to the reverse takeover rules. This will prevent a standard listed company from obtaining a "back door" premium listing by effecting a reverse takeover of a premium listed company (which are subject to more onerous eligibility requirements).

Can anyone explain why it would be a reverse takeover if it's a third party ? No doubt this question will be answered over the coming hours.

Interesting, takeover ( or reverse ) going on, should be at a nice fat premium, given current copper prices this should eventually take these much higher when or if the deal goes ahead

Improved market sentiment and increased expectations of demand growth in China are getting the credit for the latest rise in copper, along with a weaker $US.

Investment group Angel Commodities supports the dollar theory, predicting copper will continue to trade higher because of weakness in the US Dollar Index (USDX) futures contract.

The USDX appreciated 43% post the 2008 financial crisis to peak in Jan 2017, and has since corrected 10.1% to date.

Copper entered 2017 @$2.60/lb - and has since risen to circa $3.10/lb - suggesting currency weakness could have been responsible for close to 50% of the 50 cent rise this year.

The GBP has strengthened much less against the US$ year to date at just 4.9%, compared to the basket of currencies used in the US dollar index.

Copper so liked the view above $7,000/tonne yesterday, it decided to go back today for a second viewing - long term residency is clearly now on the agenda!
