Good news from today's 2021 operations update

"Recent Kazakhstan disturbances

The CAML Board and management team are closely monitoring the recent unrest in Kazakhstan, which currently appears to have stabilised. To date, there has been no disruption to Kounrad's operations, and 2022 copper production is in line with expectations."

Sorry, OT.

Some people seem to think that you can only read/watch a source of information if you've determined in advance that you're going to accept everything it says uncritically. If you don't have any faculty to discriminate, analyse or judge what you're hearing, you'd best keep out of the stock market imv.

For people who want to know something of what's going on in the world but who are mostly exposed to Western media, forget the nonsense about "Putin's mouthpiece" - go to the horse's mouth. Watch, or read transcripts of his speeches. He is by multiple orders of magnitude more interesting and informative than say Johnson or Biden. But those who are afraid of "Putin's mouthpiece" had best stick to watching Johnson and Biden give speeches. Peppa Pig World, anyone?

I recommend this site. Yes, this really is Putin's mouthpiece:

This gecko character seems to be an extreme conspiracy theorist / antivaxer trumpeteer! I filtered the lizard a long time ago! The more people filter it the better ! I can't actually see what he typed but let me guess , it's some form of far right anti vaccine/ anti establishment pro far right wing conspiracy theories?

Given that the topic of discussion is vaccines and telly, I realized something a few days ago. Boris hasn't had a pop at the great majority of the public wearing masks out in public as looking like letterboxes.

I'd believe Rachel Maddow and Brian Stelter even less!!

William it's possible to have had the jabs but now be more questioning as more info comes out and there appears to be no end to it isn't it?

"I guess you also consider Tucker Carlson as a news source"

Said like a true Rachel Maddow (MSNBC) or Brian Dtelter(CNN) fan!

They're your sources right?

Ticker Carlson is pure evil; he's had his vaccine but will make money out of encouraging vaccine skepticism

I respectfully disagree mondex but won't clog the board further with politics. RT is no more Putins mouthpiece than the BBC is the globalist establishments imo. I trust the BBC no more, and usually less.

Spawny,

as Dodger has stated. RT is Putin's mouthpiece. Russia is ranked 150th out of 180 countries for press freedom:

hxxps://rsf.org/en/2021-world-press-freedom-index-journalism-vaccine-against-disinformation-blocked-more-130-countries

Read Catherine Belton's book "Putin's People" for an in depth analysis of how Putin has transformed Russia from a failing democracy to a dangerous autocracy. RT is not inedependent or objective.

Gecko,

Zero Hedge may have had something useful to say on the market. Wrt politics it is another alt right disinformation site. If you read it be very careful what you believe.

The brilliance of Putin's hybrid warfare is to place enough truth in reports or commentaries to get many people starting to believe in what they say. Even liars speak the truth some of the time & therein lies the danger. Here in the UK we should not offer support to Russian propaganda schemes.

I agree about that as well. It is hard to pick up nuances from google translate.

That's all I'm suggesting John. Being fluent in other languages clearly helps too. I've never understood how someone who only speaks English can read the Guardian and think they understand what's going on in Russia (or anywhere else in the world) but each to their own!

The best way to get to the truth is to read a number of sources all of which have different biases and where possible to look also at the source documents.

>To get a true counterbalance to the Guardian you need to read publications like zerohedge, Breitbart and RT imo.
@spawny100
I would perhaps prefer Al Jazeera as an alternative perspective rather than Breitbart, but for issues like Kazakhstan a good range of views is needed. Personally I like to understand the reasons why people disagree with me. That enables me to work out whether I need to change my mind or not.

You're welcome to your faulty perception of me. My Russian is competent enough to be able to be likely a lot better versed in what's really going on here than you I would think?

Only a fool would take anything coming out of Russia at face value. There are plenty of alternative news sources but to suggest Breitbart, spawny, as one suggests that you have fallen down the rabbit hole of conspiracy. I guess you also consider Tucker Carlson as a news source.

Mondex/dodger RT is no worse than BBC for state propaganda imo. And BBC is usually far worse for actually linking to the source documents. ALL news is spin to some extent but if links to source documents/data are provided it's possible to analyse for yourself from the originals isn't it?

Concur with Spawny.
And Zerohedge isnt a newspaper as such, but a collection site of numerous articles scribbled by a variety of people..

Quite interesting on most days.

Where else would you hear about the Wuhan Virologoy Lab leak when it happened and 24/7 coverage of the Covid outbreak back when no one in the UK had even heard of it!!

Anyone remember the 24/7 Wuhan Crematorium operations, the excess heat signatures discovered that revealed something was amiss....

Russia today is just Putins mouthpiece. I’m surprised the broadcast authority still allow it to be broadcasted in the UK.
As for Zero Hedge, a right wing, conspiracy theory, I assume Trump loving comic.

You are entitled to your views, but seriously, watch Russia Today to get an accurate view of what's happening in the world?

I disagree mondex. The Telegraph is not the Yang to the BBC/Guardian Yin at all. Both publications are within the Overton Window (where Chomsky says the boundaries for "acceptable political debate" are defined). To get a true counterbalance to the Guardian you need to read publications like zerohedge, Breitbart and RT imo.
