The baltic dry index is down 8.5% in the past week alone I can't find a one year chart for it at the moment.

My rpesent view:

CEY is back on my buy list should we get a small push down to the mid 170's, the chart there would again look fantastic and great value of course.

I am still considering a top for this year in gold has yet to arrive, it may take a couple of months, $2300 and silver at $34-35.

I can honestly say never seen these swings, and such manipulation.

How the dollar was up 0.5% after average jobs data and is now down, is wierd

cey going completely against the gold price today, just goes to show while linked, daily moves are affected by its own mkt maker movements as well.

Change in non-farm payrolls: +1.371 million vs. +1.350 million expected, vs. +1.734 million in July

Unemployment rate: 8.4% vs. 9.8% expected, vs. 10.2% in July

Not much movement -
will see what occurs over next few hours as all the commentators unpick the detail

i think if you had said that to steve originally he would almost certainly agree i think, especially the bit about "hints at the shadows", nice turn of phrase and accurate i think

Price discovery on assets and fundamental values are becoming harder to establish.Market volatility is increasing now summer is over with a lot more noise accompanying it.Government focus everywhere will be on limiting unemployment brought about by the pandemic and stimulus and money printing will continue. All good for gold provided we don't get a second wave sell-off.But then again a dip in the share price here will be worth buying imho, unlike other 'buy-the-dip- promotions you hear elsewhere in markets.I'd love an opportunity to buy in more at 150p considering the outlook going forward.

umat,

i cant really see anything that he actually did, just disagreed with technical "analysis" which comes up here from time to time, and he is completely right that cey will be determined by the gold price and any other relevant news.

technical analysis only partly works and that is because people actually follow it which makes it self fulfilling to a certain extent, but its usually hindsight type analysis, not particularly good at predictions. you get the usual, "if it breaks this it will go higher, if not, lower", which isnt particularly useful.

most technical analysts spend most of their time flogging courses in it rather than making their own money in it.

what i suspect is tied up in all of it are the hidden mkt maker and general market moves that seem to make it work half the time.
