JPMorgan Cazenove has lost its crown as the City’s most popular stockbroker for the first time in 13 years.

Analysis has found that Numis Securities has 195 clients across the London market, having won five since May. JPMorgan, which lost four over the same period, has 189.

It leapt ahead of Bank of America Merrill Lynch on the FTSE 100, however, and is the biggest broker on Britain’s benchmark share index, with 30 leading companies on its books.

Across all the indices, Peel Hunt and Finncap came in behind JPMorgan and Numis, each holding 119 clients. Cenkos Securities and Panmure Gordon were in fourth and fifth places, with 114 and 113 companies, respectively...

...Finncap continues to dominate Aim, with 112 of the junior market’s constituents on its books. Cenkos, the second biggest broker on Aim, has 76, while N+1 Singer has 67...

...The third-quarter rankings are based on research conducted on August 8.

.. anyone else noticed that QuePassa's posts are getting longer as the Cenkos shareprice gets higher .... and his down votes faster. Smacks of a worried trader :)

.. markets look ahead QuePassa - we both now that .. once a gap opens, between two companies whose share price is highly correlated, the only question is when those making the pairs trade close.

You can buy my "trading shares" in this company for 104 - but only after you have paid my 4p dividend, and assuming of course, no-one else was quicker than you to buy 'em :)

... if you compare WHI with NUM and then CNKS with SGR one can observe post Brexit, the former two took a Brexit boost, while the latter two have struggled ....

... so as expressed above, I expect this gap to close with CNKS around the 130 mark.


Durkin's comment in CNKS results about never making a loss seemed strange this year - but placed in the light of WHI and SGR in recent years, this makes sense.

WHI on the other hand looks heavily overvalued trading at this point at 4X book value, with a paltry dividend.

Anyway - onwards and upwards :)

I hold both as well. Shore Capital would probably do better financially if it ditched the private jet,but otherwise a reasonable business.

..... I picked up a few Shore Capitol as well this morning .. turns out when you correlate Shore capital with Cenkos you get around a 95% correlation ... so one will pull the other up :)

CITY DIARY: Shore Capital's new compliance boss worked for Berni Madoff -

Shore Capital has hired Amber Wood from rival brokers Cenkos to be its new head of compliance.

A glance at Wood's LinkedIn account reveals she previously worked as a compliance officer for something call MSIL.

What's that? It stands for Madoff Securities International Ltd, and was famous Ponzi scheme fraudster Bernie Madoff's London business until his 2008 arrest.

Small wonder Amber prefers to keep it abbreviated.
