I think you may be right as there is no evidence that any institutions have significantly reduced their positions. Jeff Chatwin seems a canny chap to me so let's hope his game plan includes the share prices going up! That said Avation sat at a very low level for ages with no movement. One of my brokers rang me up looking for stock when it was c. 24p as he had a client interested in buying. It still took months to move.

I have to say I have gone over CLA/AVAP many times to try and work out if there is something I am missing but if there is I can't see it.

Here's to our eventual profits ;-)

Just looked at the long term chart on here as I was scrolling down to read your comment Gosgos

There is every possibility that no one has ever made a penny out of this share. Except Avation who made £5m when they issued the shares for 24p.

Oh and maybe you with your purchase in feb/mar but im guessing that you havent sold that yet.

Isnt that amazing? no dead cat bounce? no post results optimism? just ground down and down, and so now we come to its possible merger (end?) and its left with only the two of us paying any attention.

and hopefully actually making some money out of it.

Ditto on SKYW! I was just starting to get tempted again as it went down but then it reversed

Roll on the results ;-)

Hi DD
I wondered if it was you as we seem to be the only ones on ADVFN interested in this stock.

Hopefully we will hear something although I get the impression Jeff moves to his own timescale. Nice to see Skywest going up again too. I got the impression it was down to market sentiment on the US consolidation. Hopefully there may be some similar +ve activity in other aircraft leasing companies. Do you follow any of them?

Bought some more today. Again showing as a sell as the price was slightly below mid.

I wonder if we'll get any steer about the future of CLA in their results due soon, or whether we'll have to wait for the much later release from Avation making an announcement as parent.

Looking at the interim results again today I realised just what a a great stock this is for anyone wanting to avoid UK or £ exposure. The accounts are in US$, they receive rents in US$, and clients are airlines based in Australia, Europe and US.

Not too long until we should see the annual results for CLA, it was Sep 30 in 2008 and 15 October last year.

I've never stumped up for Level 2 either but I normally get a volume available to sell or buy. Never mind if I free up any cash I might have a further sniff although I have a reasonably significant % of my portfolio in CLA/AVAP already.

All the best and let's hope for some action!

I knew what volume I wanted to buy and simply put through an online trade, was offered a price, and accepted it. So i'm afriad i've no idea what stock was available at the time and i dont have access to Level 2

Apologies for the ungrammatical question but I'm sure you get the gist ;-)

When you last bought, do you remember what volume were you offered?

I agree. It would make sense for CLA or AVAP to buy back CLA shares in the market at this discount to NAV.

Thanks dd I had missed that - it seems fairly encouraging in that someone is clearly prepared to pay the 14.5 for the stock. That volume could have trashed the price if there had not been a pre-arranged buyer

Big trade on this yesterday. nearly 600,000 sold. Approx 0.5% of the co. Strip out Avation, its 1% of the remaining shares in issue, take out the other major holders, and its nearly 10% of the remaining shares.

Wonder if we'll see any annoucnements in the next few days

I bought on a T20, so i'll sell some more Avation next week to cover it and continue my rebalancing between AVAP/CLA. Also good to take some profits from Avation, as most of my buys were in the low 30's.

I guess that 20,000 must be another buy? Feel sorry for person selling at 10.5 yesterday!

Completely agree on all counts. If I had plenty of spare cash I would buy more but the time horizon for exit needs to be at least a couple of years to be certain of a decent valuation (in my view). The price will respond either to corporate developments and/or a general upturn in aircraft leasing.

Otherwise management will just let the business get more valuable month by month and seem to be doing their jobs pretty well.

So not a trading stock but certainly one that I expect to make a nice return on one day. Hopefully we will both make a packet ;-)

I had a look at the CLA numbers again last night, tried to look at it as if Avation were just a fund holding 51% and I was assessing CLA on a standalone basis, and i'd buy. The profits theyre making, and the residual value, and remaining life in the 2 A321s is massive at the end of the lease terms. I think theres a very good risk/reward balance now with shares well below NAV.

Also, Id forgotten that all the directors exercised options at 24p only last December, when the business was no different to now (in fact balance sheet is now 9 months better) and yet now you can buy for 15p ish. a 50% plus upside back to 24p

A small sale at 10p yesterday, so any new investor may have to be prepared to wait a while to get out.

At some point they will be able to pay higher dividends once they enter into new leases. I think the main market would naturally give them better liquidity and a more accurate valuation provided they increase their capitalisation to a point where they get noticed. Otherwise the main exit would seem to be a sale to a larger leasing company.

Thanks Davydoo - I agree but eventually we need a wider appreciation so we have someone to sell to ;-)
