Anything else driving this lower other than disappointing dividend? Results looked quite good to me overall?

The investment return is disappointing nevertheless investments are extremely safe. Consequently I would like to see a higher proportion of profits paid as dividend. The success of non-London hubs and expertise of underwriting I applaud. Dividend payment is particularly disappointing when premium rate adequacy is at a particularly high level.

They do more to market themselves and understand their clients & risks. They are my favourite but I like Lancashire too, they seem to get very profitable risks but they are not as good value for net asset value as Catlin.

Cracked? Already!?!

Had a £6 target on this, starting to think I might need to begin planning my exit strategy or revising my target.

I can't understand why these shares are down 4% today. The $200m estimate of loss from Sandy is comparable with other insurer losses, for example Beazley at $90m and less than half the size by insurance premium revenue.

Business interruption, but usually needs to be as a direct result of property damage.

Is there cover available for lost trade due to natural disaster?
2 days off air for Wall Street would be considerable $ loss.

Seems my post above may have been a little off, the winds may not have been as bad as some but for anyone close to sea level things look pretty nasty.

Been downgraded now though, so hope for the best I suppose.

According to CNBC Hurricane Sandy having it's effect on all insurers right now. Having said that the actual reporting of the Hurricane (rather than it's effect on insurers) seemed rather under played to me. Disruptive not destructive.

You are right. My apologies. I had November in mind but had associated it with the start and not the end.

Unloved... when this place starts getting more than a couple of posts a week it's time to move on... until then I'll quietly pocket my cap gain and chunky dividend.

Two of my favourite shares are Insurance.

Needs a push from here. It will get there one day but may take a breather first. If it does manage it however, EXCELLENT.
