24/12/2019 07:32 | Should tick up to just above £37 to equate to US price. A nice Xmas present - what I cant understand is not why the shares fell but why so much, esp with the buy back- the company obviously thought they were oversold. still it allowed me to buy in. The savings in fuel pricing should support the current position imho, all else sticks to plan. | silverfern
21/12/2019 08:01 | Fortunately, no one injured (edit, latest reports say one injury). I wonder if the captains were celebrating ccl's results? Or would pilots have been in charge at that point? Onto happier things I discovered last night that the cruise we've been booked on for a couple of years is now going to be a musical theatre cruise. Great news for us, we've been on p&o music festivals, but they stopped a few years ago, been looking for others ever since. What an amazing stroke of luck for us. It's the May NY to soton cruise | pierre oreilly

20/12/2019 16:24 | I bought 50 shares in October and added the 2nd 50 just before the close yesterday. The shares had retested the breakout of triple bottom which was the reason I bought at that time. | kirtonender9

09/12/2019 11:20 | Stepped off the queen vic yesterday to be well and truly brought back to earth by our rip-off taxi drivers followed by our rail system. Talk about chalk and cheese. Beautiful weather, excellent food, interesting table sharers - one an explosive demolition owner whose mate was Fred Dibnah, another a dancing digger driver (got to google that in a mo) - where else would you get that? If anyone's interested, the $700 obc worked a treat for a 10 day cruise - paid the tips, a tour to see the dancing horses and sherry production, a meal at the steakhouse or whatever it's called these days, some expensive (v expensive at cunard's prices) aftershave, some equivalent for the wife, a couple of bottles of wine and sufficient other booze for us each quiz and dance affair (we don't drink a lot). Even had 75cents left in the account, so a donation to cunard's coffers. The dancing element, which we can now attempt, along with everything else, made this one of the most enjoyable so far for us. Now just got to get rid of the 3kilos i put on. | pierre oreilly
05/12/2019 08:45 | Rumour has it that there used to be ships that crossed the oceans without oil , coal or nuclear. Not going to be an easy conversion for QM2. | wad collector
05/12/2019 07:09 | I hear the engine in the Kursk is still running. Try that in an electric one, would cark it in the first thunder storm | purplepelmets

04/12/2019 11:17 | That's the problem toffee, by far the best solution is subject to irrational bias due to 50 years of constant propaganda against nukes. Plenty of submarines are nuke powered with no problems, and no emissions, at all. | pierre oreilly
04/12/2019 07:25 | Nah - nuclear :) | toffeeman
03/12/2019 21:21 | This BB needs a new title at the moment; it is certainly not cruising higher, despite all you young fogies trying to boost the order book. From an ecological perspective, burning all this oil churning through the oceans for pleasure is not sustainable any more than air travel . I was just working out that a QM2 cruise with 10 days at sea burns about 1500kg of oil per paying passenger. That is 50% more oil than the average amount of diesel used by a car in a year. I realise that we all have our justifications for our unecological choices , and I am not criticising anyone , I am just pointing out that the current model is not sustainable. And it is not creating me any capital gains either. | wad collector
22/11/2019 16:11 | I think it's pretty hard not to enjoy a cunard cruise, there certainly is something for everyone (over 50!), especially with so much obc. I'd put the average age a bit lower than 70, but maybe that's because we always have the late sitting at dinner. Ever been on Fred Olsen? Average age on the one we went on must have been 80 or more, we felt very young on that one.On Thursday we're on the Queen Vic for 10 nights to get away from the cold and rain, hopefully, and soak up a bit of luxury. The high drinks prices aren't too bad considering it's usually obc which pays for it. Also there seems to be several opportunities to acquire free drinks at the various 'parties' they seem to lay on more and more, so I'll drink to that!.We started learning ballroom dancing six months ago, and now know enough to join in most of the dances. Great fun, and certainly better than watching from the sidelines which we did for a couple of years. The dance classes on the boat are usually given by really world class dancers, and they're great fun too. Roll on Thursday! | pierre oreilly
22/11/2019 11:35 | Well, just off the QE2 after 17 days cruising from UK to Capetown - what a way to travel! Sailed with all 3 Queens and love them all - Cunard appeal is mainly to the age 70 plus and the call to dinner is a bit like the March of the Living Dead as a consequence but that aside it's a gt way to spend time at sea and do some serious journeys. Entertainment onboard has improved in the last year imho and food at the buffet upstairs likewise. Dancing is still geared to the ballroom mob even though when they do get some live bands playing hive or modern stuff, the same floor gets packed every time. The gyms on all 3 ships are good and rarely crowded ( not surprising given the age profile). Drink prices are my main bugbear with a large glass of red at $16 inc service charge. But if you play the on board credit system well, you can offset that - we had $1900 OBC for the 17 days via shareholder credit of $250, $700 via taking the £50 'on board' deposit option, and further $450 each special offer when booking direct with Cunard, you can also usually get 4% discount off the cruise price if you are HSBC premier.... overall a great way to travel tho some will prefer the informality of say Oceania or Celebrity......Carni | swindon41

07/11/2019 15:46 | $42^40 in USA makes this £33.12 £1 equates to $1^28 I just don’t get this constant lag | linton5
04/11/2019 21:22 | I got $50. Quite fortunate because these days you're supposed to apply 3 weeks in advance, and I sent the email about 10 days in advance. Wad, that was for two g&ts (supposedly a bit special since they use their own gin - a bit lost on me though). | pierre oreilly
04/11/2019 21:07 | Finished $41.93 in USA converts to £32.50 at £1 = $1.29🦅 | linton5
04/11/2019 20:20 | did you get your share holder on board money | ccraig69
04/11/2019 19:34 | Thanks for that Pierre. We've not fancied the trips on QM2 but you may have swayed me :-) The most relaxing ship that we have been on so far is Celebrity Eclipse. To be able to take a drink or two whilst sitting on a lawn on top of a cruise ship is quite nice :-) | tlobs2 |
