"The concept of relative risk..." ah yes, relative gambling. It's usually these self appointed "quality investors" that learn the hardest lessons. Atb

Note that Peel Hunt, the company's broker, now holds a 11.15% stake, making it the company's second biggest shareholder, only days after Mark Rollins, the company's chairman, resigned with immediate effect. Does anyone have any idea what is going on behind the scenes at Carclo?

If that's your understanding, then dive right in my friend :-)
Obviously the concept of relative risk is unknown to you
E.g., look both ways before crossing the road, rather than look just one way or close your eyes

If you invest in equities, you're gambling. Hope that helps :)

The company is owned by the pension fund regulator.Unless a sensible compromise is agreed no competent management or board will be willing to take this on.The current and future efforts and earnings will go to pay for deficit.Ureasonable and unfair to expect this.Solution needs to
Reflect reality.

It looks to me as though Carclo might be a contract manufacturer of ventilators (or bits of them?). Got to be some upside there, so long as they don't over commit like they appear to have done with wipac volume manufacture.

Shurely some mistake - massive share price rise on a volume of precisely 3 shares. And a dreadful general market.Massive buy in the background or a tech error?

Now there's a morbid silver lining. But if it does take hold as now seems likely then it may well remove some pensioners as well as impacting the mortality tables going forward. Not sure it would be enough to save Carclo though.

Having been a shareholder many years ago what I cannot understand is why the pension scheme needs so much money. The pension scheme was closed many years ago so surely a lot of pensioners would have died.

The pension trustees have nothing to lose and in end will screw up what could be a viable company providing good jobs. Why should current employees, not having, in most cases, equivalent benefits have to see their hard earned profits used to subsidise others.
Not blaming others but surely unfair.
