I wonder personally if things have deteriorated at Capital Ideas (CAPT) since the results period reported today, given that it seems listing costs are described as a 'significant burden'?

Gone very quiet on here. Interims day and no posts. Did everyone get bored and go away? Company to delist from aim. That will be a great loss. Reading the announcement, the individuals (read 'suckers') from the Inside Track mailing list are about to get another investment opportunity. Trust Capital Ideas to never give a sucker an even break.

Yes, maybe they ripped some investors off again. It pays to read JakNife's post - you have a guy disqualified as a director for 8 years running the gold bar scheme and this company. He is no longer a director, because he is not allowed to be!!

Here is an article on how Capital Mint is progressing. When it was written they had already made 200 sales..how much commission is that?

The Daily Express had a report on CAPT from Blackfriars a few days ago stating how successful the opening day had been for CAPT selling their gold bars. Explains the rise in share price

Unless they have sold some investments their balance sheet looks very stretched to me. Large tax liability of £492k and £507k due to Ren's dodge vehicle (Monument) back in April. I wonder how they settled these?

No ARC Equities are selling shares for Primary Water to raise cash for them. At least that is a bit more sensible for the company selling shares as they raise some cash. Still rubbish though!

With the Forint having fallen from £1=280 to £1=320 in the last three months, I wouldn't like to be holding those Budapest Room Rights in the hope of seeing capital appreciation.

I wonder if Capital Ideas Retail will be up and runnung in time for Xmas. Inc documents for it was dated 7/11/08.

Topvest..is capt a selling shareholder of this Primary Water offer, and from Arc's finals they mention something along the lines of not doing pre ipo's again.

I love this bit:

"Limited Gold Bar offer
At Capital Mint we are offering you access to invest directly in Gold Bars, which is normally the preserve of institutions and larger investors who purchase precious metals in significant quantities. We are offering Gold Bars of different sizes to suit your portfolio requirements (please see the accompany flyer for more details). Once your order has been received, we will bear any fluctuations in the price of gold and the US dollar during the period until you take delivery. You will also receive a certificate of authenticity."

What a load of bull! You can get gold bars in all the sizes they're selling on E-bay, as well as dozens of established dealers!!

Makes for a bleedin' expensive box ! But the key stumbling block is quite simply this: if they set out to sell gold bars as a novelty purchase in a nice box, regardless of value or investment merits, a bit like 'diamonique' jewellery on QVC, then fair enough - it'd be a gift, like any other gift.

But they aren't doing that - they quite specifically say you are "investing" in "One of the safest investments in recession". This is where they are asking for trouble - there is nothing safe in something where you pay 20% or more above the market value, on the basis that it is an investment that reduces your risk.

What a bunch of cynics. Always a negative. Here - just a thought - the gold is a bar that is provided is in a nice presentation box. Not just someone purchasing a spot-gold price (bar or qty). No different to you going to the High Street to pay ~$3k for a one carat diamond, that currently sell for $1,200 a carat in the trade. I don't suppose Capital get their gold bars at the spot price. Nor the nice box with them, either.

I looked at this and thought that whilst it may be a bit of a gimmick, 100 grams of gold bar (2 inches long?) in a box could be seen as something to own, even if there is a 20% mark up.

There are far worse companies than this one out there. I don't hold, but I'm tempted. Or maybe even just a small gold bar... !

Once again, what will a purchaser do in 12 months when they find they were charged way over the going rate for something they thought they were being sold as a safe investment, that they can only sell at a significant loss ?

And selling £470 worth of gold for £635..

What a blatant rip off!

Capital Mint..Good find I was not expecting that! Seem's gold is one of the few expected growth areas to invest in these days. I expect CAPT will make their money through commission and storage fees.
