OSAKA -- Once Murata Manufacturing completes its acquisition of Sony's battery operations Friday, the new owner will lavish 50 billion yen ($453 million) on overseas production sites to supercharge the business against global rivals.

That money will bolster battery factories in Singapore and the Chinese city of Wuxi, with the investments running through the fiscal year ending in March 2020. The plants will receive electrode processing equipment as well as testing gear. Sony had delayed updating the facilities due to curbs on capital spending.

Murata will continue investing roughly 20 billion yen annually afterward. The Japanese producer of electronic components seeks to expand its supplies of smartphone batteries, as well as cylinder types used in power tools and vacuum cleaners.

Yes very exciting times. But when you think of all the investors out there yet to get on board. However, I always muse at this stage when a stock runs away. What can go wrong? What pitfalls are there on the horizon? How healthy are the key directors, the CEO etc.? That is the nature of sensible investing. And how many of you out there are bemoaning the fact that they didn't spreadbet this stock three months ago?

the news from Murata I think has a massive repercussion to CPX we knew that they where taking sony battery business but I was not aware on the future investments plan.
Murata must be very confident on the future market for battery and it is very reasonable that they can and will use some CPX technology.
if that happen not only the royalty will increase many fold but the margin will improve drastically too and ultimately will increase the potential to spend in RD without and cash call.
clearly knocking on 50mill market cap and disappointment down the line can be expensive but potential is definitely there
excuse my English
good luck

Investments rarely offer up a stock with massive potential like this one and when it happens most PIs do not believe it or cannot afford to risk a lot of money on it. Some are in no position other than to take their profit. That is why against all logic and even though it defies investment sense, many sell. Also the nature of a lot of PIs is to risk a little but not a lot and in fact most are probably happy with doubling their money. Hence the once in a lifetime opportunity can pass them by or make them a minimal gain.
I suspect that applies here where we have a stock which has little apparent downside and massive potential gains. Seeing the stock rise from about 4p when I first invested to hit 16p today is absolutely no surprise to me and in fact I am very surprised it has taken as long as it has given the situation. There is a massive amount of room here for huge gains and the downside is difficult to spot. Believe me, I have tried to identify it. Who knows where it can go and who knows if it will get taken out and if so at what price. I would be massively disappointed to see CPX sell out to Murata or anyone else for 50p. Anything under 100p looks a steal at the moment. OK maybe this looks like ramping but I write as I see it. This one does not need to be ramped!
