ummmm.....just noticed this big discount to NAV as highighted in Moneyweek this week. I'll be buying this week.

The discount has now risen to 26%. Obviously, this is ridiculous but it does create a nice buying opportunity.

I think Polar Capital Holdings is only worth around £300m at the moment unfortunately, so that holding value looks about right. Being a quoted investment, it would have to be marked to the latest market price I suspect.

CLDN's Polar Capitol holding valued at only £29 million.
End of April Polar C listed CLDN as owning 9% of a company worth £800 million!

If Majority owner wanted out, not sure IMO that CLDN would have had much to say about it,......the difficulty with some Minority investments I suppose....hopefully they can put money to better use.

Maybe they are selling a mistake. In which case a small profit is a good result. Always looked a rather dubious investment to me in the first place.

The sale price of Bowers and Wilkins is rather disappointing; it is the same price as the last valuation. Usually when Caledonia sells an unquoted investment, it is at a significant premium to the last valuation.

The Capital Today China investment includes the jd.com shareholding which is being steadily sold down. Since September 2015, Caledonia has received £35.4m in distributions from Capital Today China, so there has actually been a net increase in the value of this investment.

The factsheet for March shows a significant rise in the valuation of Caledonia's two biggest unquoted investments, Park Holidays and Cobehold. I am surprised that the shares didn't rise today.

I have reinvested my dividend back into Caledonia. If the revaluation of their unquoted investments shows any uplift in value, I expect to see at least some rerating of Caledonia's shares.

I have only just noticed that Caledonia refinanced Park Holidays on 8th January. This will enable an additional distribution from Park Holidays. This will probably be included in the bi-annual revaluation of their unquoted companies which will be announced in a few days. I found the announcement in the news section of Caledonia's website.

NAV announced today at 2821p. Still therefore sitting at a c.20% discount to NAV....personally maybe a 10% discount would be fair, but these IMO keep performing and c.50p divis p.a. as yield which they IMO try and increase year on year.....

The discount is back up to 22%; simply absurd. At least this allows me to accumulate more shares at a bargain price.
