Investors celebrate as Cake Box sweetens full year profit guidance

THE BROKER’S TAKE

House broker Shore Capital commented: ‘With some of the clouds over the UK consumer economy lifting (in our view) we believe Cake Box is now very well placed to deliver on its evolved growth strategy, with a more proactive property strategy, enhanced marketing capability combined with the considerable knowledge and experience of founder and CEO Sukh Chamdal.’

The broker added: ‘Cake Box remains immature, and after two years of stability and consolidation looks well positioned to deliver sustainable capital light, cash generative medium to long-term growth.’

Cake Box sweetens profit forecast
Patisserie chain Cake Box has told investors its profits for the year to March 31 will be better than expected after boosting online sales and launching new products.

It says that sales should be up 9pc year-on-year, reaching around £37.9m.

The chain added an extra 20 shops during the year. It believes there is scope to grow its current estate from 225 stores to 400 over time.

Cake Box began in 2008, founded by vegetarians who wanted to supply cakes that were egg free but still contained fresh cream.

Sukh Chamdal, chief executive, said the baker had “delivered a year of solid growth in all our key performance areas and full year profits slightly above expectations despite the backdrop of uncertain macroeconomic conditions.”

Shares rose 2.5pc today.

Good analysis Sid -BAgree with most of it but don't think River Capital PTY needs Liberum in order to bid Also don't think CBOX and River Capital PTY are hostile It was the deposed Chairman who insisted on a second broker and it's a waste of money for CBOX. What are both likely are a stonking update from CBOX next month and an imminent bid.Which one comes first ? For what its worth Shore Capital said to me after the RNS that it's not worth the expenses of a second broker/ Nomad as they have mainly an overlap of investors

CBOX are presenting their business plans at the next "Shares" investor webinar on 14th Nov, which I guess aligns with them reporting interim results - either on the 14th or perhaps a day or two before.

Private investors do not influence a share price. Your tiny holdings have zero impact. Hedge funds do.

160p takeover will be a disaster. Founder would like to take more.

I still believe that a better outcome for shareholders will be installing professional management team and founder to step aside. Perhaps an activist investor can help do that job.

Investors here should have used update from HOTC last week as a chance to bail

I get you can't hold everything but not going with your clear positivity here and potential 56% profit whilst holding a loser like Boo (I'm assuming you still hold at a loss) seems odd to me that's all.....you are a very respectable investor so not having a pop, just question why you are always (for some years now) ramping this stock that you believe has so much upside but won't invest - even a 5% loan to buy and get 56% return, so sorry don't buy the reasoning for not investing.

Lesson for Discodave :What is the Price Earnings Ratio? The Price Earnings Ratio (P/E Ratio) is the relationship between a company's stock price and earnings per share (EPS). It is a popular ratio that gives investors a better sense of the value of the company. The P/E ratio shows the expectations of the market and is the price you must pay per unit of current earnings (or future earnings, as the case may be).Earnings are important when valuing a company's stock because investors want to know how profitable a company is and how profitable it will be in the future. Furthermore, if the company doesn't grow and the current level of earnings remains constant, the P/E can be interpreted as the number of years it will take for the company to pay back the amount paid for each share.
