https://www.energyvoice.com/oilandgas/africa/175106/african-petroleum-heads-for-arbitration-in-dispute-over-senegal-blocks/ I think African Petroleum are still in dispute over Rufisque Profond, although now it seems effectively to belong to Total.

May well be hsfinch, not followed it closely, but think Total might well be interested in SNE, and might be a more congenial partner for the Senegalese government than Woodside.

Santa Ana to drill in Senegal The drillship Pacific Santa Ana has arrived in Senegalese waters ahead of a contracted well for operator Total on the Rufisque Deep block. This is adjacent to SNE.

CNE would have been up a few pence without the duster. Still some decent drills coming up. But no news on SNE is the big concern IMO.

You don't see that very often..a duster and the share price ends the day up...albeit only marginally..

The Godalen prospect is located in PL842 in the Norwegian Sea. Cairn’s partners in the license are Skagen44 and Pandion Energy, following Aker BP’s stake sale in December 2018. But another roll of the dice to come.

And another one. Duster after duster. Only consolation is that the noggies will be paying most of the costs. But it's pretty clear that Cairn's Norway office isn't good at finding oil. Reminds me so much of Tullow's foray into Norway back in the day. Except Tullow pulled the plug as soon as it realised it had wasted its time and money. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. If you can't be, you shouldn't be in business.

I'm not convinced. First of all, how long is it going to take to get a final decision out of the AP? 3 months would be quick IMO. FAR 'wins' and is able to try and purchase the ConocoPhillips stake. They absolutely can't do that unless they have buyer with cash lined up. But Woodside will probably have the right to start a competitive bidding process. That will take time. And before you know it the license has timed out. And you can't blame the government for that. The government could then put the block back on the market with latest license terms. Bottom line is it could be messy. And CNE has must to lose. Hope they're covering all angles in Senegal. If they aren't, heads will have to role if it does go pear shaped.

If FAR wins there will be a quick deal with the chinese, I guess CNE will do the same, agree though it could get very messy!

hsfinch - If what you say was the likely outcome I think FAR would drop the case. Much more likely they sell up and walk away.

https://www.bbc.com/pidgin/tori-48755089 Off topic for SNE but some fine terminology here. In Norway tugs listed to pre-lay Transocean Artic, that must be for Godalen PL842 which is next after Lynhaug. They can pre-lay well in advance, but perhaps Lynhaug will not be a long drill.

It is indeed and speculators are betting on a couple of outcomes. FAR wins or Woodside and / or ConocoPhillips pays them to go away. But what if FAR wins and the AP rules the original transaction to be invalid? Woodside would be delighted to hand back to ConocoPhillips. There'll be a huge delay. The government might do something silly and let the license time out...that's in December this year by the way. The big loser then might be CNE with 40% and something closer to 45% of the spend to date. Don't say it can't happen...it's Africa. Now who's going to pay FAR to go away? Not Woodside. Not CNE. ConocoPhillips maybe. You might think that the AP will find against FAR. But how long is that gonna take? This is getting really messy and CNE could be the loser. I'm speculating of course and would love to read a counter take.

Not very enlightening. I'm still worried about SNE. That there has been a significant delay is undeniable yet no explanations. Look how fast Premier and it's partners are moving in Mexico. Also 40% non operated is not sustainable and Senegal is looking dodgy after that Panorama piece. Concerning IMO.

Lack of any news on SNE is concerning. The FDP should have been approved by the government. No news means it hasn't been approved yet. Is the Panorama report on corruption in Senegal having an impact? What about FAR's arbitration hearing...is that throwing a spanner in? SNE is a lot more important than Noggy wildcats but investors don't know what's going on. Disappointing.
