Umm, not exactly sparkling results. But look at their exploration portfolio, it looks amazing imho.

Huge, dubious quality and under over a 1000m of water. Phase 2 will never be developed.

Interesting point. But 'the rest of it' is huge. They confirm out how it preforms in Phase 1 and then bring latest technology to the field and they're gonna get hundreds of millions of barrels out. That's why majors are sniffing around for CNEs share.

Disappointing news but oversold. They're a takeover target at this price. In fact the inevitable farm down of Senegal will probably cause a major to think that they might as well buy the company. I'm topping up.

Cairn Energy was a faller after the arbitration panel judging its $1.4bn tax dispute with the Indian government said that, due to workload, it was unable to give guidance on the expected timing for a decision. Cairn said it saw little chance of a judgment before late 2019. A victory for Cairn would potentially be worth 193p per share, according to Citigroup, which added: “While the news is clearly disappointing given it was a material near-term catalyst, the merits and strengths of Cairn’s case remain unchanged". Wow....potentially worth 193p! Even I'm not as optimistic as them but it feels like this is not just going to be a paper exercise but they will make sure it is enforceable and get the cash back one way or another.

And todays action may help a punter guess how much of the Indian tax 'rebate' was in the price.

Or just get over the "economic" hurdles "catching" low fruit whilst "understanding" better the "other potentially" more complicated sands? Fraz I think you really know your stuff we're just on either side of the fence. Strangely enough I am known as being a miserable b'stard and am drawn to your conclusions but for once I am optimistic on this one. Lol. Busy now so don't take non reply as rudeness!!

Dunderhead - i went cool on SNE as soon as they needed to split the project into Phase I and II - Phase I is obviously targetting the best sands (20% PhiE and RF approaching 30%) but the rest of it does not look so good. Just my view.

Exactly procedural in that it isn't material to the decision. I've always been clear on this. I've always said it's been pretty clear cut 're Cairn India and they'll get the award. Getting the cash is another thing of course Lol. Me I'm here for the amazing exploration here. Take a look really really potentially company making! All imho and dyor.

Well there you go fraz mate. We have different views. By the way I'd say a BD asset rather than NV if it were being marketed. Best of luck matey.

Dunderhead "They may have been mktg informally but certainly never an open data room?" How would you know? I've not heard that a data room is open, but you would have to be in NV to know what's out there.

it probably means it's less clear cut "due to the number of procedural matters that had been brought before it since the August hearings" bit ambiguous that, i wonder what these procedural matters are. odd for them to occur at this stage.

Frazboy. They may have been mktg informally but certainly never an open data room? Wtgr it is pretty simple economics. Wait until govt. Approval / FID and the asset is worth significantly more. This is supposedly a very very robust find and field with further upside in the FANS? Results soon and hopefully we will find out more then? All imho and dyor.

Whenever I've had a delay, it's gone against me. Doesn't mean this will but whittles away the belief CNE will win.

"I dont think the mkt cap prices in a successful award by any stretch of the imagination. SNE will likely be farmed down as soon as FID reached." I reckon they've been trying to do that for quite a few years! It might be, would be fascinating to see the price, maybe a part/full carry on their remaining share.

I dont think the mkt cap prices in a successful award by any stretch of the imagination. SNE will likely be farmed down as soon as FID reached. Cash flow is fine imho. Cairn has really really exciting exploration upside. Look at what they've been landing lately!! All imho and dyor of course. Best of luck all.

"as everyone seemed to be thinking that it didn't matter which way the award went as CNE where not going to get any money out of the Indian government, why the drop or is it just the market makers making money ?" Cairn's prize cash flow assets are Kraken and Catcher - the latter is doing pretty well but is less material, the former is more material and is way below par. And there is no other cash coming in from other assets for the foreseeable. Point being, a good percentage of the share price reflects a successful award from the arbitration.

Yup, just the market shaking the weak out, this is a complex case but on balance we have a v good chance of winning the case and I think that probability has increased further today as it would be easier to rule against us by now (they have had 6 months to make that call) but to rule in favour, the panel need to make sure the judgement they set is 'internationally enforceable' and sets a precedent and this is what they need the extra time for imho.

that delay - not that there is/was any guarantee of a payout - will make it a little more difficult to fund SNE

Good grief !!!!! as everyone seemed to be thinking that it didn't matter which way the award went as CNE where not going to get any money out of the Indian government, why the drop or is it just the market makers making money ?
