They do have a track record of "suck it and see" as a modus operandi. Solvay started with licensing, finished with sale of IP; SC Johnson converted from short-term to long-term; Tristel started with a technical development agreement on "Tristel 8", turned into a 3 product deal.

Even the IRI deal you could argue was a result of the earlier cooperation with Advanced Hygienics.

So it seems to work for them. And to the extent that regulatory requirements will be different in different markets it may not be optimal to do a global deal for a single product spec such as byotrol24.

The video finishes with "Available now at select Walmart locations and on Walmart.com" so (if it does actually launch tomorrow) it sounds like it is not going to be immediately available in all Walmart stores.

I would have thought Turtle Wax would want to make it available through other US retailers at the same time but we'll have to see.

The interesting thing to me then is what they do about global sales, given IRI only has the byotrol24 licence in the Americas. Turtle Wax is a global brand so there's no obvious reason why they would want to limit sales to the US if it launches successfully there, particularly since they appear to have trailed this product in that Indian article as far back as June (not long after IRI got the licence).

I'm also curious about the supply chain here. Does IRI have the right to sub-license and if so will Turtle Wax be responsible for manufacture - in which case there shouldn't be any limits on scaling up, but what would that mean for byotrol's royalty interest? I would have thought it more likely that this is a supply deal in which case what is IRI's capacity to scale up production if the product is a success?

It would be nice to think this would be a joined-up process and we will discover on Monday that byotrol has indeed done a global deal with Turtle Wax. I wouldn't be completely surprised though if that isn't the case.

So the ideal scenario which is probably totally wrong would be
Turtle Wax launch new product in US tomorrow with Byotrol technology across Walmart,Target etc huge market opportunity.
Turtle Wax expand their new offering outside the US to their global customer base and receive Byotrol worldwide license..
Sounds impossible right !!!!

Absolutely. No doubt that that has got byotrol in it. My uncertainty was over whether it was a new or old listing (cf the byotrol24 listing which is still there) and whether it will be included in the Turtle Wax launch tomorrow.

Given the updates today (or yesterday) I feel much more confident that it will be.

And I've just realised that there's a professional-looking video underneath the photo. No thumbnail visible, just the "play" icon. So it looks like there could be some serious marketing effort behind this.

Ahead of Turtle Wax's product reveal tomorrow, the Walmart product page (Turtle Wax Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Disinfectant with 24 Hour Sanitizing Action) has been updated with some new pictures.

One in particular shows (what I think is) a new claim: "Guaranteed not to harm/stain automotive surfaces". I guess this claim would have had to go through the EPA and might account for some of the time required to get to launch.

So it looks to me as though there is a reasonably good chance that a byotrol24 product will be in the new Turtle Wax retail lineup.

I would hope if that is the case then byotrol will be able to update us with some "post period events" commentary when they publish the interims. For example, how wide is the initial distribution in the US? Is it a supply or sub-licence agreement between IRI and Turtle Wax? What if any plans are there to roll the product out internationally? And of course some similar background on the B2B product for Move Clean would be good.

The army will have to do roughly 80 million covid-19 jabs from the back of a lorrys so they may need only need some hand sanitizer and hopefully Johnson and Johnson will be one of their preferred products seen it already in the NHS supply chain

Maybe its nothing but I like the way that Boots are the only retailer licensed to sell this seaweed based product. If or when we do get to product creation you would think that there is an existing partner looking at that space

Strange coincidence is that Boots are offering the nasal spray in immunity bundles with our sanitizers. That cannot be bad for our sales either surely.

Turtle Wax's partnership with Shell, Move Clean, is a trial. It will be months, if not 1-2 years, before trial data is analysed to determine whether it is a success. Only then can they decide whether it can be expanded into other markets.

Apart from that, 3M are already in India market.

While waiting for the Turtle Wax reveal on 5th December, and hoping that it includes a retail byotrol24 product, I came across the following article (from June) on their Indian business. If Integrated Resources have managed to land a deal on a byotrol24 product into Turtle Wax's American retail operations, presumably there is the potential for that to become a global deal with byotrol, either directly or through IRI.

'Turtle Wax enters India to capitalise on growing car care business
20th Jun 2020 8:00 pm
Along with offering a range of exterior and interior car care products, Turtle Wax will also launch a vehicle disinfectant in the next 3 to 6 months...

...One commodity that will be in high demand going forward, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is a disinfectant. So, Turtle Wax is already readying its own disinfectant that won’t damage any exterior or interior trim and fittings, unlike a regular alcohol-based sanitiser that could potentially harm these elements over a period of prolonged use.

"We’re finalising our cleaner and disinfectant product; it will be environment-friendly, and we’ll mention the kind of viruses it can eliminate and the kind of surfaces it can disinfect. We’re three to six months away from the introduction of this product,” confirmed Puravangara.'
