William, I’m not familiar with Intertek but having just read a bit about them just now I think you’re spot on - looks very similar to Halma as you say - I’ll certainly be having a closer look at them over the next few days because I think it’s companies with that sort of history where I’m happiest to invest for the long term. Thanks for pointing it out.

50% retracement to the sharp MW gap implies 1150p (if you believe in such near hoodoo). Except that time appears to have shown the poor validity behind many of the MW claims, so such a rise would not be surprising at some time. Dunno when, but I'm not thinking of selling until then. I have sold the half I bought at low prices. the current holding was bought at 770p or so.

I think the us market is finally getting involved in burford, it's where most the business comes from and it will look very cheap, the muddy water attack can finally be seen to be unfounded and there is now a big gap to fill

Rar, no I’ll be sticking with the same approach of getting rich slowly which has served me well for 37 years. Still down on BUR so would be inappropriate to get too excited about the latest streak upwards. Having said that I am excited about Halma and Amazon which are both reasons why I’m on course for an early retirement. Amazed that Halma is so under the radar - FTSE100 stock that nobody ever talks about despite year after year of outperformance - I think they’ve raised their dividend for 40 years in a row now...

The trading volume today is massive compared to say a month ago, something like 500 times what it was if my maths is vaguely correct, so no doubt some profit taking but buys outstripping that by a long chalk...Reddit??

According to the FCA website, there are still two notifiable shorts:

0.9% Gladstone Capital Management LLP, last change date: 14/12/20
0.57% Kuvari Partners LLP, last change date: 31/3/21

which were the positions at 26/4/21.

gettingrichslow,

Will you be changing your handle to gettingrich at a gallop?

It's like the good ol days again

I think the Directors know of something good in the near pipeline, they bought a hell of a lot shares recently for good reason.

I think BUR has to publish quarterly results now 'cos of US listing, so about 3 months time?

I've broken even in my largest tranche in an ISA, may even be up by tonight.

Glad to think the Reddit crowd will be LTH's...

Lomax, yes I’m sure that’s part of it. Saw an interview with Carson Block on Bloomberg about his new short on Joyy Inc (Nasdaq: YY) where the interviewer did make the point that ‘why should anyone believe you now that some of your recent allegations have been disproved?’ But it wasn’t really answered, surprise surprise. And Joyy shares are now up, not down, too.

Or perhaps prospective investors have just realised that it wasn't a massive fraud and the extent of the future opportunity here.... I'm in that camp, and am not surprised at the recent uptick. It was bound to happen at some point, it was just when, not if.

Likewise, we won't know when this will move on, but my bet is that we'll fall back a bit shortly due to some short term profit taking, and then continue the march upwards, perhaps at a slightly slower rate than the past few weeks.

Or is some sort of news on Petersen about to be released? This has jumped 54% in under a month so it has to be something more than a determined buyer surely?

Cashed in 10% at 780, and another 10 at 860, but it does seem set for a ride to 950 to £10. As buffet says, don't uproot the flowers (or water the weeds, or words to that effect)! A determined buyer out there, I guess.
