Patience is the drug for me. Need to stay fit so I can stick with it! This is nowhere near finished as a story.

It's a thought out considered ramp. Nothing wrong with that.

While I prefer fundamentals to charts (and have commented a fair bit on them), it feels like if we can hold the 800p level for a few days then it's clean air up to almost 1000p. Sorry if that sounds like a ramp!

A person of significant control is someone that holds more than 25% of shares or voting rights in a company, has the right to appoint or remove the majority of the board of directors or otherwise exercises significant influence or controlI'm guessing that following the merger Burford's equity in the whole group would have reduced by c. 50%, so they would now hold 15% of the enlarged entity which would take them below the significant control threshold.Thanks for the research

Solicitors behind Mrs Akhmendova - PCB Litigation

PCB Litigation merged with Byrne Partners on 1 April 21

Burford no longer a person with significant control on 31 March 21
target='window'>https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/OC322793/filing-history

But BUR still retain an equity stake:

"It is this expertise which has led Burford Capital, a leading global finance and asset management firm focused on law, to take an equity stake in PCB Byrne."

Law Report on the Akhmendova case from 2020 really good reading on her relationship with Burford Capital paras 18-24

@ Gettingrichslow - yes, I bought back in on the day of the FY results. I'd been hankering after the shares for a few months but the price seemed to be going nowhere.

Burford and PCB are specialists in this field. For starters there's that 30m flat overlooking Hyde Park and I'm not a specialist in asset recovery!

Not only backed by Burford. Burford also has a 30% equity stake in PCB Litigation who were running the case.

Jonwig, does my memory serve me right that you sold out of BUR in August 19-ish? Would be interested in your thinking if you’ve now decided to buy back in?

geraldus - it might be more than that. Which market is determining price momentum? Possibly already the US:

... if more than 50% of our shares were to be owned by US investors, as determined under the US securities laws, we would no longer be eligible to file as an FPI. In that case, we would be required to begin reporting under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and issue annual results on Form 10-K and quarterly results on Form 10-Q. It is possible that we could lose FPI status during 2021.
[AR 2020 pdf p34.]
I think that's a strong signal that the US is pricing the shares: that's where the business is, for the most part.
