No div, I meant settlement as in "agreed settlement" before the court case. Once we have a judgment it's all about enforcement. The end is in sight, no doubt about it

Under normal circumstances a settlement may drag on and on. However, this is Burford Capital we are speaking about and as such, we all know how the Russian oligarch's wife fared. Apparently, that case wouldn't be settled either as the oligarch's funds were well protected and "untouchable". Erm! Not so. It's all just a matter of time now.

Is the Argentinian Senate a bit like the Russian Senate? I e. A law unto themselves with no care for the outside world. So any settlement in Bur's favour will just drag on and on....

IIRC we had the arguments for summary judgements filed last month by both sides, the responses filed last week and the final documents (the reply to the responses) on 23 June. Then the judge will either pass summary judgment or order a full trial. If Burford do not win it would indicate any state can list a company on the NYSE with provisions for what happens in the case of expropriation and then overrule those provisions with no consequences. I can't see that happening. But apparently any settlement would need the approval of the Argentine senate and that won't happen either

From Seba's tweet, translated

Reading the new arguments of the case for the expropriation of YPF from 3:00 am
- The ruling, no matter who it favors, will be epic.
- The magnitude and scope of the charges, together with the defenses, place a superlative responsibility on Judge Preska's shoulders.

Are there still people on this thread that think Bur will ever see a penny from Petersen. Hysterical, this is Argentina we are talking about. You would need someone like Paul Elliot to pull that off and Bur management are useless, self serving and probably bent if MW are correct. I said this would tank and never go anywhere and to just use it for trading purposes ( its great for that ) but as an investment it is DS ( dogshxt ).

Not sure where you're getting those figures from.Should Burford be successful, they are entitled to 61.25% of the matter as well as Eton Park (which owned 3% of YPF),having previously sold entitlements for $236 million.
Have read through ( some) of the rebuttals of the summary judgement motions and, although not a lawyer,I'm happy with the Plaintiff's approach. The papers still refer to court protective orders so I'll let Sebastian or someone else publish them.

I hope that was useful ? Led to a significant reversal of share price direction..
45% approximately....is the share that bc will get from any judgement for those too lazy to have done the work.....

Another day, another director share purchase. As with the last one, not enormous but I can't help but find the proximity to a potential conclusion of Petersen encouraging. Let me know if I'm letting my optimism get the better of me...!

It's something like they bought it for $20m and have sold 30% of it for $250m from memory

I think getting YPF behind us is key too. It will hopefully provide a huge cash windfall but more than that will totally change the perception of the company. I could even see it covered in the press as the "deal of the century", as people forget how little BUR paid for it
