12/8/2014 11:40 | My broker has three clients with BGL shares who accepted the offer. One of them received a cheque on 5 August. Another is supposed to receive a cheque within next 10 days. I have a sponsored account, so am expected to receive a cheque directly from the Registrar, whoever they are. Acceptance was submitted about a month ago, so I'm not a happy bunny. | corrientes

05/8/2014 09:50 | The remaining independent shareholders should come together in the light of these new rules. We have enhanced voting powers and now do not have to be walked all over. | midas7777
05/8/2014 09:46 | Minority shareholders gain protection 01 May 2014 Comments (0) Rules to ensure that companies are run independently of their controlling shareholders have been agreed by the Financial Conduct Authority They will be published tomorrow and come into operation on 16 May. The new rules will give independent shareholders a veto over transactions between companies and a controlling shareholder when this independence is threatened. They will also require the independent shareholders separately to approve the appointment of independent directors, in addition to the approval gained from shareholders as a whole. Minority shareholders will gain enhanced voting power where a company seeks to cancel its listing or transfer out of the premium listed segment. In future, the company will have to gain a majority of at least 75% of the votes attaching to the shares of those voting on the resolution and a majority of the votes attaching to shares of independent shareholders. Companies will also have to be more transparent so that shareholders are given the information they need to make properly informed voting decisions. The new rules have been developed in response to concerns raised about the governance of premium listed companies with controlling shareholders. The FCA says in reaching the finalised rules, it has tried to balance such concerns without turning minority protection into minority control. 01/8/2014 09:18 | ronnie - yes, threatened with all that but given where we are I think I'd rather simply have some dosh. It cost me a LOT of money because of the many months I couldn't trade. And what they did with Medusa..... When they delisted from AIM, the TD default option was to keep your stock in untradeable UK form! I didn't think to check in time and now they tell me I'll probably have to wait until DECEMBER before I can have access to my shares! jaws - I understand you get the best rates from an Aussie bank in the UK. | hiddendepths

01/8/2014 07:53 | Maybe the restrictions preventing NGF buying in open market have been removed now they are at 75%? Or was it the friends buying to get the last push through 75%? I agree TD are rubbish - presume you've threatened them with complaints to FSA, LSE, and others? | retailronnie |
