17/3/2005 20:34 | royal oak, just had a thought, be warned they don't take plastic over there. The only place I found where they do is the Casino, & you can lose every bit as much in a Bulgarian casino as you can in UK. I'm flying out of Heathrow 8.25 Tuesday, so if you need anything before Easter, e-mail me by Monday night. Please don'take anything I say as investment advice or an incitement to buy anything. I've made 1 or 2 bum inmvestments in my life, so I don't know any more than you, but if I can help with the logistics feel free to contact me. | wanderlust
16/3/2005 21:55 | Im looking into Romania at the mo & going out there in a couple of months...... | peterstilgoe
16/3/2005 21:53 | wanderlust Keep the information coming, will email you before you go, thanks. Have some close friends who are Roumanian, now in the usa although they have family contacts and visit frequently, met them there when I was working, another one on my radar a year or two down the road. | royaloak
16/3/2005 20:53 | roodboy I've heard of this happening was it in Rumania or Croatia? I've not heard of it happening in Bulgaria. The government seem to be doing all they can to encourage inward investment, & recent property laws (apart from making it a long complicated process) make buying pretty safe. Also the people are so friendly, when you buy in a village, they seem to fall over themselves to help. They'll tend your garden & your vines (almost all houses have vines) & make your wine & schnapps for you for minimal reward. Apart from the cost of getting there, it's costing me 600 quid in flights next week, I really can't see much of a downside. By the way, if any body wants to rent a car in the Varna area let me know. Not the newest cars around, but at prices to suit every pocket. Mind you, with Taxis at around £14 a day, yes that is right, it hardly seems worth renting. | wanderlust
16/3/2005 09:35 | quick question regarding buying land and just waiting - are there any problems in Bulgaria with people encroaching/squattin | roodboy
15/3/2005 21:46 | wonderlust, snaptastic Many thanks for the information, it's really helpful, much appreciated. I have made a note of your email wanderlust, as soon as I firm up my dates I will email. Thanks again. | royaloak
15/3/2005 21:43 | I recently went LHR - Sofia then Hemus Air to Varna. Who do you go with from Manchester ? | peterstilgoe
15/3/2005 21:33 | royaloak, its is scarey how we seem to follow the same shares... i'm also planning a trip in a few week, apartment near Nessebar and villa near Albena.. trying to sort the financing from this end at the moment... best i can find is fly from manchester ti Sofia and then drive to the coast and see a a bit... easyjet will help transform this place when they eventually get there and open it up to cheap flights... hopefully.... | snaptastic
15/3/2005 20:55 | royaloak, I can recommend a good Hotel just outside Varna, if you're looking. Clean & friendly. CHEAP. The owner will even pick you up at Varna airport if you mention my name. . | wanderlust
15/3/2005 20:41 | I hope to be out there in around three weeks, as I said last night there appears to be massive potential. Look forward to any comments people have, I will pass on my experiences when I return. | royaloak
15/3/2005 16:10 | I paid 11 euro, for mine which looks pretty cheap for the location etc, a friend paid 14 euro for a plot in a more developed location. | peterstilgoe
15/3/2005 15:57 | Off the top of my head, around 3 to 4 Euros. One plot is I think aropund 12 Euros, but the location is second to none. I'm saying no more than that until it's nailed on, hopefully. | wanderlust
15/3/2005 15:23 | wanderlust, can i ask how much per sq.m. you are paying. land prices went up a lot last year, but i seem to feel that they have stabilised in the last 5-6 months. Would that be right ? | fft
15/3/2005 15:23 | Yeah it was, good luck :-) | peterstilgoe
15/3/2005 15:22 | Peter, if that was addressed to me, I'm looking around Borovets next week, at least I've got someone looking for me. If super Borovets comes off, it should be massive. At the moment I'm negotiating for three lots around 40k from Varna from 3/4 to just under 3 acres. | wanderlust
15/3/2005 15:17 | Where did you buy ? I bought near Samakov in anticipation of Super Borovets | peterstilgoe
15/3/2005 15:16 | Or buying land & just sitting on it. That's what I'm doing Back over there next week. | wanderlust
15/3/2005 14:58 | ye but buying land and self building is slightly more difficult than buying shares and waiting ! has anyone set up a BKSA BB? i have no idea how to do it .... | roodboy
14/3/2005 22:44 | Blimey snap, i'm following you around. My interest has been aroused, but think more money to be made by buying land and self building! | royaloak
14/3/2005 08:32 | Where are you getting the info from mdchand ? Ta | peterstilgoe
14/3/2005 08:17 | Incase anyone is interested, epic code for black sea property fund is BKSA. I know this was oversubscribed and they had to return over £5m back to investors, so a possible chance this my rise in the market. In addition, they have an option on some properties that wasn't originally listed in the prospectus which is worth several millions. | mdchand |
