Having suffered a DVT myself a couple of years ago in my right leg and with a vein from my knee to my groin now blocked for life, I am probably more aware than most about the advantages the treatment with the EKOS system will provide to the medical world.

The present treatment to unblock veins is very primitive and the success rate very, very low indeed. The damage caused to the valves in veins is irreparable unless the blockage is cleared very quickly.

The market for the treatment of DVTs is massive and contrary to general opinion the condition is not restricted just to the elderly. I am reliably informed by an air hostess that a young lady of 34 y.o.a suffered a DVT on a flight and actually died on the plane.

DVT's are very common indeed. I did have the statistics somewhere but cannot put my hands on them. Maybe someone else can provide.

The announcement today has in my opinion far greater implications to the BTG share price than is fully appreciated and I am surprised the price is not back over £7 and moving higher.

But it is a Friday. Obviously we will have to wait for the analysts to digest the news and get the blue pencils out next week.

Have a good weekend everyone. Onwards and upwards.

More shorting yesterday and I hear from quite a major player.

But compare the volume yesterday to take the price down to the initial volume the previous day to take the price up.

Let the shorters have their day but when they do attempt to close will the major share holders like Neil Woodford make them pay a hefty premium??????????

"The Access PTS protocol using the EKOS therapy is now the only treatment regimen proven to significantly reduce the signs and symptoms of PTS and shown a significant improvement in quality of life."
Job done!

Depending on when they started, they could be well out the money given the rise from the £6.00 level. They have also recently reduced the short.

They also seem to have quite a few running!

Dr B, I'm sure that nobody minds you having a short when you deem it to be the right time. Indeed, I do not object to the principle that large predatory companies like AQR open shorts on a given share. That is not the issue. When you short a company you do not spend millions trying to manipulate that share down: AQR and others most certainly do.

When AQR shorts a share like BTG they do not then take the dog out for a walk, or go down to the pub as you might. Oh no, they programme their bots according to the advice from their quantitative analysts and spend literally millions trying to push the share price down. Do you not occasionally look at the trades of BTG, tiny and seemingly frivolous as they seem? Who do you think is controlling all that? It has to be somebody with pots and pots of money. Stand up AQR and their brethren!

I happen to believe that this is utterly unfair manipulation and is only allowed to happen by governments (in mainly the USA and the UK) whose elections are funded to the hilt by these large organisations. I do not accept that this is at all fair to the private shareholder who are fed the palliative that this somehow 'adds to the liquidity'. How does it benefit you, Dr B?

It is certainly not 'negligible' when you look at the low number of 'free range' shares there are in BTG. BTG is one the most shorted company on the UK stock exchange.

Besides that old platitude about shorting adding liquidity is unproven. It's what the shorters claim!

Nothing wrong with shorting in my eyes, as long as they obey the market rules. Adds to liquidity and hopefully reduces bubbles - shorting the dow seems to make a lot of sense right now. BTGs short position is pretty negligible compared to others.

Looking at the Shortracker website the % shares shorted has dropped from 3.75% to 1.4% in the last year. The AQR short accounts for all the 1.4% current position. Hopefully this low number will allow the company fundamentals to shine through market manipulation

The prats who are running AQR Capital Management still have a significant short position in BTG. Indeed they increased that position just over two weeks ago. In the meantime they have unleashed a torrent of bots in their attempts to manipulate the share price for their purposes. That is why there have been recently even more frequent and irrational fluctuations in the share price

I think it's laughable to ascribe these movements to rational forces like the prospects for Varithena, the company's results, the high PE ratio etc etc. These have hardly changed during the recent greater turbulence. BTG is currently in the top 100 shorted shares in the UK market.

All these forays must eventually come to an end, more than likely to the benefit of holders of BTG.

Meanwhile it's the algorithms, stupid!

EKOS ACCESS PTS results are out around 15 June, if good, will lead to expansion of markets/cases.

Do you think the share price rise might also have something got do with the publishing of the annual report and accounts yesterday? It looks good and makes interesting reading.
