BT Group PLC (BT.A.LN) said Tuesday that it expects lower Ebitda and revenue for its Openreach network arm in fiscal 2019 as a result of a discount to the unit's wholesale prices, but confirmed that the group guidance remains unchanged.
The British telecommunications operator said it will cut wholesale prices for fiber broadband starting from Aug. 21. This will reduce "in the order of high tens of millions of pounds" Openreach's revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, BT said.
The company said the impact at group level will depend on retail-market dynamics, but backed its full-year guidance. BT said last month that it anticipates fiscal 2019 earnings in a range of between 7.3 billion pounds and 7.4 billion pounds ($9.6 billion and $9.7 billion), while underlying revenue is expected to drop 2%.
