04/11/2019 11:51 | Kind of the point. Bt should be delivering it's own cloud not using AWS. | ekuuleus
04/11/2019 09:15 | Talking of cloud .. BT really does understand tech as BT TV is built on AWS serverless architecture. It was building it back in 2015 when the tech was at the bleeding edge | djnzloop
04/11/2019 04:37 | well i guest 1.8M x 30 quid a month x 12 is 600m. yup, sounds like a dog. let amazon have it and provide the infrastructure. The money is in cloud provision. BT could become trillion pound company if it focused on cloud | ekuuleus
02/11/2019 16:07 | Could you or Monty explain why 'millions' would leave BT given they approximately have 1.8 million TV subscribers? | toon1966
02/11/2019 15:49 | I think that's a given in fact I doubt BT sport would survive or certainly not in its current form without football but I also doubt the amount they get in subscriptions gets anywhere near what they have to pay for the rights. The only argument I can see they might have is it attracts subscribers to buy other BT services but it's such a huge cost that am not convinced with that argument either. | tim 3
02/11/2019 15:17 | Problem is millions would leave BT Sport including myself. | montyhedge
02/11/2019 11:13 | Let Amazon have it all.Hideous costs and all. Most of it going to the grossly over paid players.BT should concentrate on their core stuff. | chiefbrody
02/11/2019 10:09 | The cost to BT must be enormous, just wondered whether it really was a good move to enter into this market up against the giant that sky is. | piedpiper2
02/11/2019 09:29 | Looking at BT sport HD on Sky,Ok I know that there are some good deals that get it down to around £22 with a 12 month contract but a full price of nearly £37 a month seems an incredibly high price to pay for European football and a few Premiership matches which is all I think most subscribers will watch. I guess the question is how many new customers for their other services does BT sport generate. | tim 3
02/11/2019 07:26 | Never understood why BT wanted to enter the TV and sports world a few years ago. Anyone know whether this has turned out to be profitable? | piedpiper2
01/11/2019 22:17 | Yes Amazon are putting a toe in the water and Sky should be worried! On the other hand BT are broadcasting this for them over there MPLS network In 4K so new contracts possible as they have no infrastructure over here. And in case you didn't know Sky use BT to for all there sporting events ! | holly1000
01/11/2019 15:14 | The problem for the FAANG companies is the way the Premier League currently sell the PL rights. For the most part it's very much on a country by country basis or it can be regional (central America for example). Here's a list of the broadcasters for 2019-2022 - The question being will BT be in the running for the next round of rights (PL and Champions League)? Something for the new CEO to ponder... | toon1966
01/11/2019 12:26 | Premiership football, Boxing Day Amazon Prime showing every match, when rights due for renewal, Amazon will probable make a knock out bid. | montyhedge
01/11/2019 12:16 | Ha yes I remember that's when we had O2, you never know now we have EE now perhaps we may one day see those dizzy heights again ? | holly1000
01/11/2019 11:37 | Good for you. Just keep investing every 3-5 years and build up stock, you won't regret it. I was one of 61p brigade and around when they hit £15 some 20 years ago :) | 1liam
01/11/2019 11:22 | Thanks I'm already maxed out, the £1:60 share save offer wasnt bad but not as good as the 61p one we had in the financial crisis ? nice retirement fund. | holly1000
01/11/2019 09:31 | Don't forget the BT Saveshare plus there are other share incentives that are tax effective. All share options can be found on the homepage. | 1liam

31/10/2019 12:58 | @mr_rooster, thanks for that. I thought that would be the case. Interestingly, it makes it harder to determine if actual debt actual rose over the period. | stokiematt |
