11/11/2005 23:15 | Hi all : Did surprisingly similar - bought 5000 in June'00 at 47.5p, then 5000 in Aug'00 at 53p ! Bought a few more in PEP (can't remember how many), got 304 more in the SCRIP issue in 2001. Also wrote to David Cust asking him why on earth did they send me a cheque for 42p as the remains from the SCRIP issue (too little to buy a whole share) rather than send it to charity or keep it, bearing in mind the administrative expenses. To his credit, he did write back and say that he had instructed the Registrars to send the residual amounts to charity, but somehow it hadn't happened. All in all a good, steady investment, and having held for so long, a bit strange to realise that there will never be a report / news item / dividend from them. Where can I find another little gem like this .. can you help again, John Lee ?? | gj2

27/7/2005 19:53 | pvb Have you ever looked at Hitachi Capital ? Similar business in many ways and with a div yield of around 5% and growing. A higher yield of 7.5% is Chesnara which is a life company running down its business. | binley
27/7/2005 16:02 | Yes, assuming it goes through. | pvb
27/7/2005 15:10 | So if I hang on to these I get £1.235 right ???? | geoffg

26/7/2005 09:06 | Agree pvb - good value, div increasing, robust stocks like BCS are hard to find. Why do siemens want it anyway? | vector
26/7/2005 09:03 | "But why not bank the money and look elsewhere for a similar stock_?" Well I'm going to have to! The problem, as ever, is in not making a bad mistake. | pvb
26/7/2005 08:59 | Siemens_ AG, apparently. I made a mistake before, I see that the Int Div is INCLUDED in the offer price and so won't be paid if offer accepted. I got the Official notice via an email from Company Alerts, but I still can't see it in the BCS messages on CA. I'd have thoght the CA email alerts might lag the public postings on CA, not the other way round! Don't understand... | pvb
26/7/2005 08:46 | yes pvb see what you mean - you were after long-term growth and yield. But why not bank the money and look elsewhere for a similar stock? | renegade master
26/7/2005 08:34 | But - interim dividend_ raised 7.5%. That's the other and important part of the story as far as I'm concerned. I have two holdings of BCS, one inside a PEP_ and one outside; I see that the respective average original dividend_ yields are 8.5% and 8.12% - and that's before the latest 7.5% increase. I'm going to miss it when it's gone; I'm not a trader_. pvb | pvb
26/7/2005 08:04 | personally more than happy - 20% in day will do me.. agreed eventually BCS would have been worth more than 120 a share.. but it would have been a long wait | renegade master
26/7/2005 07:42 | a bit stingey... the offer me thinks...still a bonus. | jeff h
10/4/2005 07:58 | cap123 Final divi 2.06p paid 5th May | mymillie |
