They can be held responsible because they have deep pockets. As far as the lawyers are concerned it's worth a shot on the off chance they get lucky.

They might even get an out of court settlement to make it go away.

US vaping deaths linked to THC - not nicotine
Thousands of people have fallen ill in the US with lung injuries connected to vaping, but 84% of deaths suggest a THC link.

According to figures published by the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC), 84% of the 19 individuals who died as a result of vaping-related injuries had used THC products.
The figures showed that 63% of those who died reported exclusively using THC products rather than nicotine.




More evidence that these deaths are the result of using non standard vaping products. THC vapes are not legal are they in US? They might be in Canada, but outside of Progressive left California in US?

White House mulls backing off part of flavored vaping ban

HHS Secretary Alex Azar last month promised a ban of all flavored vaping products (excepting tobacco, of course), but according to Bloomberg, the administration is considering allowing mint and menthol flavors.

Health officials have noted that tobacco, mint, and menthol flavors are mostly popular with adults.

Was going to buy more Altria but plumped for BAT.

Was interested to note that since its recent low on 25th August to close yesterday Philip Morris share price has increased by 18.5%.
during the same period BAT share price has reduced 4%. while sterling agains the US$ has increased by 7%.
