anhar: 'small investors'? as in inexperienced?

Perhaps the 'patterns' or at least the predictions of professional analysts should be very closely heeded in that case :-)

I do believe there is some element of fact in car1pet's and my pattern. I've been dripping money into RR for a few months now and I do see an upturn when the US market opens (in RR).

I'm not going to attempt to explain or justify such, simply report my belief.

It's common for small investors to see apparent patterns which aren't there, just chance movements in the random swirl for a time.

Have got this and Diageo paired up

In light of the share buybacks remaining pretty constant here 280/300 on a daily basis will be watching with interest this morning and over next few days

Seems to be serving its purpose at moment.

Very attractive dividend on offer here will keep investors coming back for more.

Might have to throw my principles out of the window as an ex smoker

Money talks

Good luck all

#Hope1815, correct on the 25% tax free lump sum on the way out, but in real terms the GBP 12,570 personal allowance is wiped out by the state pension income offset 1st, so SIPP income does almost or all get taxed at the 20%/40%/45% or even 55% on further lump sums income tax rate..

Anything can happen of course with policy changes, but retrospective taxes on 25 year years of ISA savings and planning having already paid the tax to fund it would be brutal for long term investors, holders have had no reliefs.. :o(

It only applies if the share price remains low in the coming months if it spikes toward the impairment announcement the case falls apart. The Investor has a mind of when to buy and sell.

Their position falls short on this principle

If a company announces they have a profit warning or falls short of Guidance the share price reflects that news. The Investor sells that position on that news.

It illustrates the US law firms blaming a decision announced on impairment to which BATS reflected over 30 years on their acquisition in 2017 which many analysts agree with.

The class action can be back over 6 years to 2017 but action needs to be proven on false information on the category mentioned by the US firm to which the Investors made their loss. The dividend they may have got plus the share price at the time of the court case showing their capital loss. The period had a lot of bumps in the road where the share price was affected, by Covid, Inflation, law change, and social habits which Bats had no control over.

A scenario -

Just think they are in court saying Investors lost $100,000 on their Investment when they sold. On the proceedings, BATS Lawyer steps up and asks when they sold(ask if they bought back in on a lower price ) and then points out the share price is 10% or more today when they bought, does an open palm expression, and shrugs his/her shoulders at the judge then sits down.

As an Investor, you expect good and bad news. If some people think otherwise well they not thinking straight

To be honest it would be interesting if common sense does exist.

Happy Investing

Thanks Phil. Good news for income investors. London listings do have an advantage for dividend lovers, which is why Shell and Unilever moved their HQs here.

With 10% on some London stocks, perhaps investors may start looking.

Monty, saving stamp duty is fine but you have been around long enough to know about the 30% withholding the U.S. gov mandates against foreign investors on their U S. sourced income, or file their tedious 1040NR.
