18/1/2011 14:54 | NH everyone is piling into the stock NH ahead of the Iberia reweight British Airways PLC (BAY:LSE): Last: 304.60, up 7.6 (+2.56%), High: 304.90, Low: 296.00, Volume: 5.45m NH here's a little broker desk note on that NH We still have over a week before the event, but British Airways are to have an indexing upweight in the FTSE100, post the merger with Iberia, when they become Intl Consolidated Airlines (IAG). Timetable of events: Friday 21st Jan 2011 Brit Airways & Iberia suspended from trading for entire day. Monday 24th Jan 2011 (mkt open) Brit Airways will be replaced by IAG on a 1 for 1 basis in the FTSE100. Monday 24th Jan 2011 (mkt close) IAG's weighting will increase to reflect the new shs. BA's weighting within the all share rises to 29bp's from 17bp's. We think this equates to between 50mln & 70mln shs to be purchased in and around the event. | spob

17/1/2011 22:53 | 17-01-2011 British Midland International said it is reviewing its domestic network at Heathrow that will include reducing services to Manchester. The Lufthansa-owed subsidiary has also mooted the possibility of closing its loss-making Gatwick route in a move that would gift British Airways a monopoly on domestic routes. | anony mous
17/1/2011 12:02 | It closed my last short at 292, then went up to trigger new shorts right up to 299 :):) Just short the bumps. Piece of cake !! | ben nevis
14/1/2011 17:12 | Pleased to see a halt to the relentless rise to the share price Crude oil seems to have flattened out a bit now also; useful to have those charts in the header. | alphorn
14/1/2011 09:30 | Hoping to land gently at 295ish :) | ben nevis
12/1/2011 21:42 | Anon re them chanting WW out I think that's why they have dragged the ballot process out, lets be honest it could have been called and finished a lot sooner. I don't think it is a coincidence they have timed it to finish after the merger. WW officially goes upstairs and a new man will be in charge of the BA side. So in theory they will be negotiating with the new man, if they can get an agreement they will blame the whole dispute on WW and the fact that as soon as he goes they get an agreement, proves it. I also think this is why Woodley has stayed on to finish the negotiation; he is already on record as saying WW's replacement is a more reasonable person. I just hope BA do the same as Unite and let WW complete the negotiations and don't use his promotion as an excuse to cave in. | horus22222
12/1/2011 17:00 | If their mantra Williw,Willie,Willie | standish11
12/1/2011 16:27 | Fifteen hundred British Airways (BA) cabin crew packed into a meeting at Kempton Park racecourse on Monday of this week. Workers are balloting for strikes against a range of attacks from BA boss Willie Walsh. They are in fighting mood. Before any speeches, crew chanted, "Willie, Willie, Willie-Out, Out, Out!" Newly-elected general secretary of their Unite union, Len McCluskey, promised "continued support and solidarity" for Bassa members, the cabin crew section of Unite. He condemned the sacking last week of Nicky Marcus, a Bassa rep, calling it "an absolute disgrace". Workers gave Nicky a standing ovation. ~~~~~~~ how sad. These 1500 crew need to be kicked out asap, and get their own standing ovation in a job centre. Hope Willie Walsh continues his hard stance. The losers at the end will be these cabin crew, absolutely no doubt. | anony mous

07/1/2011 16:50 | Smicker - it has happened so many times, whether trying to buy on a low, or shorting on a high point. The spikes are bigger there, and masses of people get stopped out. You either have a small chance of losing a LOT of money; or a large chance of losing a small amount. Depending where you put the stops. | ben nevis
07/1/2011 11:55 | Anony Mous - 5 Jan'11 - 09:02 - 5281 of 5293 edit once we break 3.00 shortly, onwards to 3.27 to 3.40 range pronto. :-) | anony mous
07/1/2011 09:11 | Ben, I've got caught out like that before. Its not whether the news is bad. Its whether it was as bad as expected that seems to matter. | smicker
07/1/2011 08:55 | Bad news yesterday, and price shoots up. Typical behaviour !! So many people went short, with close stops, that prices were pushed UP to clobber masses of shorters. Yes I was closed out by this process. (It happens at the bottom end as well). Market makers often push prices the unexpected way to make life damn difficult, and damn profitable for THEM. | ben nevis
06/1/2011 19:45 | Thanks, Anony Mous. Will stay in my position until the trend reverses. Could be a week, could be six months... | trader steve
06/1/2011 15:15 | It's canny how BA raises its fuel surcharges to devalue the BA miles its frequent fliers have and reduce the discount available to its shareholders too. | factsonly
06/1/2011 15:01 | I just sold out above £3. Will probably buy back shortly. Spike must had been due to traffic figures/announcement | factsonly
06/1/2011 14:57 | Good play Trader Steve ! something spiked this quickly. looking to break out £3.00 now. ;-) | anony mous |
