Two types of shares voting, and not voting. This is a hangover from many moons ago. The market cap is yes a sum of the two. Bmt is the non voting shares. Buy what you want, its up to you.Good luck.

I don't understand quite about the BMT and the BMTO. Is the company, in the market, the sum of those two? What shares would I buy? and what's with the peculiar way the name shows up on ADVFN? grateful for any enlightenment.

I don't know much about development. nothing really. But going from Tara's suggestion of multiplying 707 apartments by a random figure like £10,000, that's £7m. I suppose the Braime family will be keen to make the most of the asset after 100 years at the site. Theres another YP article about shelving the whole project at time of credit crunch. I couldn't find again the article I think Tara referred to, which may be where £15m got mentioned? It was more like an interview style reporting.

"The new 942,000sq.ft development, which should create 1300 jobs, will include 707 homes, 267,000 sq ft of employment space, 18,850 sq ft of healthcare, childcare and retail facilities, and 74,000 sq ft of bars, restaurants and cafes, a hotel and a car showroom." http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/businessnews/Green-light-for-big-new.4191868.jp

First move on in the new year, if one looks at the chart and then the share price to me they point to a rather large jump this year as profits[that drives share prices] go up. The land is worth over the market cap, and the company been around about 100 years, so not going bust. Low pound with most saying its going lower is great news for BMT.

Company web page [on the pressings side] new orders and extra lines to get the orders out on time. If you have been in the euro zone in the last few months you will see how cheap our products from the UK are.

You say the flats are a real drag, me thinks not, for a start builders will and do need land, even more so the new breed just starting out. Leeds has been a black spot based on high land values but at 10k-15k per plot the sums add up. In the south land as % of costs hits 43% in leeds around 15%. Also did you see sunday papers re exporters doing well and comming back from the east cos its now cheaper here to produce.

tara|:> Nice find but slight error. Not 700 plots "planning permission for about 700 apartments" and flats are a real drag on the market at the moment. Do you know what if any are the pension liabilities - I cannot find any references to pensions in the acounts only employee benefits - Seems a bit odd. Need to do a lot more digging.

Just read are exporters are now 30% better off re the euro zone than a year ago, ie orders should be pouring in as UK cheapest place to buy goods for 3,000 miles.

The weak pound is going to put profits through the roof here in the next 12 months. Looking great 2010 roll on.!!!

tara7- " As to likely to fall back, yes they may, but if they do they are even more value." Yes, precisely and I will watch for that. Well worth keeping an eye on. But I will not be anticipating much more headway short term, but of course, I may be completely wrong. My broker Barclays currently quotes offer/bid at 125/100 but not tradeable online!

Sorry, profits are going up, on a very low pe now, today. Pays a divi, loss making part being turned around, sat on 700 free building plots and been going for the best part of 100 years. Directors also own a large lump of stock. This is not a fly by night outfit. The shares have come down from £4.00 as profits have GONE UP, undervalued in my book. As to likely to fall back, yes they may, but if they do they are even more value. Good luck and thanks for posting in any event. Yorkshire eve post put a value on the land up to 4 times todays market cap.

likely to fall back short term after the rise imo. remember the chairman did say in September "the pace of the improvement in profitability is likely to be at a slower rate than was achieved in the second half of 2008" . Would be tempting in lower 90's though. looks good for long term I'd say.

Value or what.? Growing profits, pays a divi, been around for around 100 years so not going bust, and sat on 700 building plots. Also take a look at company web page, new night shift added to get through all the new orders.
