Takeover by Abu Dhabi. How ironic as BP started life as a colonial vehicle in the Middle East lol
I think it’s more likely Scirocco mounts a bid….. Gov wouldn’t allow a foreign country to takeover in my view but never say never
Abu Dhabi Takeover target. HA HA HA HA
It was well known it was a takeover target, I would imagine others are looking as well. Chevron top bet for a buyout of BP so the rumours go.

RE Daler's post.. The Telegraph BP draws takeover interest from UAE oil giant HTTPS://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/bp-draws-takeover-interest-uae-203458043.html
Excellent news. BP should be very clear with the Government that loyalty is conditional. In other words, we've been shown none therefore they can expect none. Should be exploring a move to the USA or positioning for a takeover - pay debt down and look like you want to be in a beauty contest. There's no long term future on the LSE. Only a matter of time before ESG rules force BP out anyway.
Exclusive: UAE's ADNOC recently eyed BP as takeover target, sources say

"Mark Kleinman’s 2024 bold predictions: A bid for BP BP will face a credible takeover bid. The boardroom chaos triggered by Bernard Looney’s unceremonious departure last year is far from being resolved, and a permanent successor is unlikely to be appointed for months. Either Chevron or Shell – or perhaps both – will decide to brave the enormous political headwinds that will be generated by an approach, but there have been too many dress rehearsals since the Gulf of Mexico disaster for one of the other majors not to be seriously tempted. With a market capitalisation of £80bn, any offer could easily turn out to be the biggest globally in 2024." If it is going to happen then the next couple of months might see some action. Guess the SP will give a clue if there is a sudden jerk up in no relation to other oilers. A good reason for holding and waiting for year end results.

I will be going for contrarian buy as it gives you value for money. Plus takeover target looking at recent memlga merger trends in USA in oil sector. I will wait for 450p b4 topping up again as you suggested. GLA.

Takeover fever has swept the sector with multi-billion dollar purchases by US giants Exxon Mobil and Chevron. Auchincloss, who became interim chief executive in September when Bernard Looney was forced out over personal relationships with colleagues, dismissed suggestions BP could be a target. ‘I don’t feel vulnerable, in fact I feel quite confident,’ he told the Financial Times. And with speculation over the future director of BP mounting following the departure of Looney, who spearheaded the company’s net zero strategy, Auchincloss was bullish about oil and gas production in the North Sea. ‘We remain very committed to the UK,’ he said. ‘We have a good concentrated portfolio west of Shetland and in the North Sea and continue to develop there.
