"The BP share price offered a whopping 10% yield." That's pushing it a bit, it only achieved that level after the share price really started getting trashed in Feb/March.

Mustn't let that take away from the fact that 6.whatever% yield is very attractive.

Trump and the Head of Operation WarpSpeed Moncef have just confirmed they expect positive phase 3 data from Moderna next week. Pfizer will file for FDA emergency use order also next week.
Mass vaccinations in US begin December with up to 20 Million inoculated.
A further 30 Million inoculated in Jan 2021 and every month thereafter.

Given 90% of Covid deaths are in those aged >65 and this age bracket = 50 Million in the US the entire group that is most at risk and responsible for most Covid admissions and deaths could be vaccinated by the end of January.

The US could see a huge drop in cases and deaths as early as late January/February.

Similarly those aged >65 in the UK total 12 million; 40 million doses of the Pfizer have been ordered of which 10 million are expected in December which will cover half of the at risk group with the other half inoculated hopefully in January.

Again the UK could see a sharp drop in hospital admissions and deaths as early as mid-late January.

Other vaccines being approved like Moderna, AstraZeneca/Oxford, Johnson&Johnson, GSK will only speed things up further!

Sb are you generally a pessimistic person? Just if your not short on here then I question your outlook on life. Just remember a positive mindset gets results . BP is slowly making me rich. You should try the happy vibes for once

Well made a good call when this hit 232 this morning, threw the book at it and then sold at 238. Averaged down my holding again and actually put me ahead of when it hit 247. Will keep holding and buying the lows that you lovely shorters and worry warts create. Next week big news. Today was great for treatment news. Next week more vaccine news.

UK has ordered 40 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
~20% of UK population is aged 65+ giving c. 13 million
This should be enough therefore to vaccinate the most vulnerable including the 2 million or so who are shielding, starting from next month.
