01/11/2016 10:38 | Shell's stocks rose by over 3 percent as it announced higher quarterly earnings than arch-rival U.S. Exxon Mobil , the world's largest listed company by output. Anglo-Dutch Shell is hoping to outgrow Exxon over the next few years after acquiring rival BG for $54 billion earlier this year.By contrast, BP's stock fell by three percent as some analysts said its results were boosted by a one-off tax gain, meaning its longer-term profits and ability to pay dividends could still be at risk. | robrah
01/11/2016 09:39 | I bought quite a few around 320p --- but it seemed very risky then and if you need to keep back some cash, you can't afford to gamble even if it looks cheap.I am just happy to see the monthly 30-50p price moves that allow me to trade long and short.I have no idea where this is going next, as long as we get large moves there is opportunity to take money from the markets. | younasm
01/11/2016 09:32 | agree gap to fill, always wished I had bought more at 325p now the story is improving will I get the chance at 450p WJ. | w1ndjammer

01/11/2016 08:28 | Sounds goodBP also maintained its quarterly dividend payment and said its financial performance improved in the third quarter despite a number of exceptional items impacting results. The oil and gas producer said it made a profit of USD1.62 billion in the third quarter of 2016, a huge improvement from the USD1.41 billion loss reported in the second quarter. Compared to a year earlier, profit soared from the USD46.0 million booked in the third quarter of 2015.Replacement cost profit in the third quarter totalled USD1.66 billion, also turning from a loss of USD2.24 billion in the second quarter and increasing from the USD1.23 billion profit reported a year earlier.BP maintained its quarterly dividend at 10.0 cents per share, the same as the second quarter payout and the dividend in the third quarter of 2015. | mj19

27/10/2016 07:08 | To all BP shareholders. I have today put a Limit sell order on my holding in BP of £6,to stop Shorter,s from loaning the shares from my broker, which they can do for a fee, without me or you knowing about.I suggest you do the same. | garycook
26/10/2016 10:37 | "£ and oil price." ...it will have to be then Bracke :-/ | optomistic
26/10/2016 10:09 | Good day optomistic Now don't go getting all technical with me with your engulfing this and bearish that. It's far too complicated for me. All things being equal, which they rarely are, your candle analysis might be appropriate but the share price is being pulled by two volatile factors £ and oil price. | bracke
26/10/2016 07:37 | Good morning Bracke, I see the MACD still turning down and both the stochastics heading south. Two mixed signals from the last two candlesticks...a bearish engulphing on the 24th and then a bullish engulphing (just) on the 25th. Today has started poor be it remains to be seen what happens at the end of the day. I'm holding firm for the results on the 1st. | optomistic
26/10/2016 07:23 | Going the wrong way this morning...damned oil price! | optomistic
25/10/2016 15:53 | optomistic You are in with a fair probability of 500 and if you are very good maybe 520.....but, you knew there would be a 'but' didn't you. The daily MACD is starting to turn down and the share price is some way above the Daily SMA 200. If you look at a longer term chart you will see that the share price does reverse when it becomes distant from the SMA 200. As I posted earlier watch the oil price and the £. | bracke
25/10/2016 15:40 | Ref 21% interest rate. Got to allow the banks to 'screw' some. It's their right! | bracke
25/10/2016 15:35 | Nearly made it today leaves us with a good chance of £5 tomorrow. Positive market ahead of the results on the 1st. | optomistic
25/10/2016 15:15 | Negative interest rates indeed, will such as Santander charging 21% on their credit cards be able to reduce that rate to 20% then ;-) p.s. I don't pay any interest on my card, but it is convenient to have. | optomistic
25/10/2016 15:10 | Just wait 'till we have negative interest rates. The building societies will charge you for the privilege of allowing you to leave your money with them. | bracke |
