A copy of Happysparrows post on Vog LSE board today. Taken from Vog quarterly update and Business Cameroon Note from today's RNS: The company is also in discussions with new customers in the Douala area for further thermal and power projects representing significant energy demand requirements. Karpowership are talkng of supplying 300MW From the article: The arrival of this independent producer in Cameroon will not only allow the country to experiment with a new technology in terms of electricity production, but also to boost its installed capacities (around 1650 MW), and thus move towards target of 5,000 MW in 2030, as foreseen in the national development strategy 20-30 (SND 20-30) drawn up by the government. So, to get an idea how big this is, 300 / 1650 = 18% of Cameroons entire 'installed capacity'. In comparison, the Aksa power station is only intended to add 150MW capacity. And it is right in the heart of Douala where we have a gas supply monopoly. And we will be billing an international Turkish company (like Aksa), and not reliant on payment by Eneo. And it can be set up in 90 days - no power station needs to be built. 8) Powership is a fast track solution that delivers electricity in 90 days. It is also high efficient using the most economical fuel available in the market and with a higher efficiency compared to similar solutions that lead to an economical generation cost....

Blimey, two positive RNSs in three days with the second, despite the triggering transaction(s) being for a trifling 500k shares, being of rather more consequence than the licence announcement. Should HSBC continue to add, that will certainly provide a boost but what would really ignite the share price would be the arrival of another 3 percenter+ and/or, better still, a hefty management share purchase. Given his mega salary and receipt of a £170k dividend, not as if Chahin couldn't afford it.

fact is, there is still zero volume since months which tells me, the ii's and basically no one is selling at these levels. rather the opposite. which of course means, they all expect a much higher price then we are right now. volume will probably kick in if we breach appx. 6.20p by tomorrow. After that 9p is already within reach and the next step to take. all only imo of course.

As principal in this context is as opposed to as agent, I think. So they are holding the stock on their balance sheet, not just acting as a "matchmaker". But for what purpose I am not clear - are they making a market in it or something else?

On the company website it says HSBC James Capel as principal, if that is any help. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of this type of thing could cast some light on it

Any idea which part of hsbc it is? Is it an asset manager or a brokerage such as a market maker?

I notice there was a TR1 for HSBC buying a few more shares late last night. Pushed them back over the 9% mark

thanks rossannan. so, nigels calculation is very similar to mine (see post 18880). i am still convinced if there is a take over bid this year the share price will be higher than his 26p. but in any case everything above 26p will make me and a lot of people here very happy i guess. good luck all.

thank you, warbaby. if the results from technip (they finished their work in november) are positive maybe there is still a chance to deliver gas to vog AND to ferrostaal and to export the liquids.

The piece was previously posted here at 18954 and I subsequently checked it with the company who, in so many words, advised that there was nowt to get excited about with it being seen as a journalist's account of an investor's difficult journey in getting a viable project to a point where it could be economically acceptable to the Government of Tanzania. The project went down because SNH wanted a higher price for the gas than the Ferrostaal partners could afford to pay but, as I have posted before, for all that time Etinde was seen as primarily a gas and not a liquids project but now that that situation has reversed with the gas being summat to be disposed of to get at the liquids, it might be thought that there could be a great deal more price flexibility. As the relationship is one between Ferrostaal and the Cameroon Government, not the JVP, I'm not holding my breath for any resuscitation of the project.

Malcy does not cover every oil stock anyway. I asked him about ENQ and he said he is not covering them.

No coverage from Malcy, I see, but he was a bit of an apologist for the old BoD.

Yes, only authorisation, although the RNS draws highly positive conclusions from that.

Am I correct that this is only authorisation to apply for EEA license and not the granting/ extension of existing license? This could take ages to grant/ issue brown envelopes full of cash. Does it give any timescales for decision?

Good momentum here, though that can disappear in a flash. We will know it is game on if momentum traders like tidy 2 start posting on here. +30% is often enough to get their attention...

One can only hope... "We are pleased to announce that following a constructive dialogue between the Etinde JV partners and SNH, authorisation to apply for a replacement EEA has been granted. This is very positive news for the Etinde development, as it essentially eliminates the possibility of the Government of Cameroon removing the Etinde licence from the JV partners, following the end of the initial six year development implementation period in January 2021. The JV partners continue to make good progress towards achieving a Final Investment Decision on the licence in 2021 and I look forward to keeping all our stakeholders updated on developments over the coming months."

after years and years of delays it was pretty clear this will not move fast on only EEA news. it was obvious after the arnoff news that the approval will follow. it depends now on the deal the russians and lukoil are able to secure re sonara imo. looking forward to the next couple of weeks/months here...
