25/2/2020 07:04 | Demonboy I’m no sector expert, and agree that technology has moved on apace since 1998 (which makes it all the more exciting!), I was basing what I said on the fact that at M1 margins were much higher in the first days of mining - in the first 2 days of mining the average grade produced was 1433CPHT, in the first month it was 667 CPHT and average for the mine was 187 CPHT. Grades fell from 4.5cpt to 1.6 over the life of the mine. The unweatjered grade started at 355 CPHT and ended at 81 CPHT T - the result of higher dilution as the pipe got smaller with depth. The total investment of 29m rand was recouped in 3.5 days. The first month of production yielded $23.1m of revenue. | perroverde

25/2/2020 03:22 | Perroverde..new technology has been proven that there are bigger rocks of diamonds at a greater depth. It has been proven by DeBeers and Lucara, to go deeper and call them Levels. The source of high grade bigger rocks are at the source and become broken into smaller ones due to the high pressure pushing them upwards, read up on this it's a fact. | demonboy

24/2/2020 18:21 | The cynical1 you are misguided. Payback is determined by value and not tons. So a relatively small no of tonnes at exceptional grade and dollar values per carat are the answer. So careful - otherwise I will use the language I restrict for Fenners. | atlas1234
24/2/2020 18:07 | Cynical I think you are confusing ‘investment payback in 3-4 days’ with ‘2m carats in 2 years’? By the way if you look into the history of M1 they achieved results so quickly because 1) the best stones were nearer the surface and 2) they initially used explosives to ‘blast the top off’ for accelerated payback. Or so I gather! | perroverde
24/2/2020 17:59 | Before anyone gets on their high horse... ; ) I am holding these and have been here for a long time....now sitting on a considerable pile of them so if there really is a resource worth a couple of hundred million, I will one of the happier shareholders if it all comes to fruition to our benefit! | thecynical1
24/2/2020 17:57 | Does anyone know whether it is realistic to believe that they had a processing plant that could process 1 million tonnes of mined material in 4 days???? or am I missing something here? ; ) I am not doubting the number of cts recovered, the timing just seems a little "original" - 250,000 tonnes processing capacity in a 24 hour period strikes me as being an AWFUL LOT! | thecynical1
24/2/2020 17:44 | Agree Atlas - and total revenue was $247m (at 1998/2000 prices remember), and grade quality high. No reason which this shouldn't be up there too. Mind you, Subterrane's linkedin profile makes an interesting comment - they imply that they think there's a resource of as much as $1bn worth at Thorny/Mars. Exciting stuff! | perroverde
24/2/2020 17:19 | 1.8 mill cts from 1 mill tonnes. Payback in under 4 days. Stunning stuff - we just need to be patient on this one esp given the apparent high summer rainfall stats for the area in which thorny river is sited. | atlas1234
