10/6/2004 16:04 | now i see that lansdowne ptns have increased their stake again today | 1mainman
10/6/2004 11:31 | is there a reason why no BBers like to comment on positive stories like this stock??? Profits have doubled the stock is up 40pence or over 10% in last 3 weeks,it seems that this BB prefers hype to fact. This stock seems to have a lot further to go and strikes me as well as being a reasonable solid target as a bid target for any number of companies | 1mainman
24/5/2004 18:07 | up 7p today on small volume surely this must show a break out of sorts, something must be happening, any views anyone?? | 1mainman
20/5/2004 10:12 | would also be interested if chartists think this stock is in an upward or otherwise trend | 1mainman
20/5/2004 09:56 | Just looked at Burtonwood brewery and seen that Lansdowne ptns have increased their holdings in this stock twice in a week, does anyone have any views on this and this articular stock. If you check out their financials my belief is that with a more dynamic less "ma and pa" like team running it, it could represent a bargain for any operator who can deliver growth. Comments please | 1mainman
27/11/2003 15:26 | Need to point out some accounting issues for Burtonwood. What the company has done is transformed rental payments on 97 of its pubs that were previously leased from JER into interest payments through the bank loan used to acquire the freeholds of these properties. Having done this the annual report draws our attention to the rise in operating profits rather than pre-tax profits that includes the interest expense. This is naughty. Burtonwood has saved £885k in rent and paid out £582k in interest payments. In reality one could infer that underlying operating profits were £10.6m not £11.2 and the rise was therefore 10.8% not 16.9%. I.e. not as spectacular as most investors are believing right now. | multiplex2002
03/10/2003 10:16 | 321.5p today, another new all-time high, and rising. We sneer at the Investors Chronicle, usually with good reason, but I think this is the moment to recognise that sometimes, more by luck than good management, they do get it more or less right. The question remains, do they do so more often than a monkey would with a pin and a copy of the FT? | diogenesj
13/8/2003 08:08 | The heatwave will surely have meant good business:-) | westcountryboy
12/2/2003 18:10 | Interesting trading today with the 100,000 T trade. Looked to be all buys not including the small sell at the end. | 8 ball
17/11/2002 11:26 | 8 ball, would be nice, with the divi, and backed by their property assetts, which at some time in the future might be realized, one I'm tucking away, and would probably buy more on any weakness. | huntkeith526
15/11/2002 19:20 | Results show good growth, increased dividend also. We could well see the share price touch £3, before the full year results. | 8 ball
15/11/2002 18:15 | Just had a quick look at results, they seem okay,, why the drop?? Must be something in there someone does't like. Any clues? | huntkeith526
10/11/2002 23:44 | Results are out on Friday, should be good. Will be interested in the company's net asset value, about time the property was given a true valuation. The last 2 years have seen a large increase in property prices. Also the 94 pubs purchased earlier in the year will be added to the asset value. | 8 ball
08/11/2002 20:10 | Been ticking up nicely over the past week or so, 1/2 year results due to be announced 15.11.02, room for a bit of optimism. | huntkeith526
11/10/2002 17:42 | Anticipating that the 220p resistance level from earlier this year will prove to be the new support level, I've bought back into this secure yield and asset play @ 222.75p. The interims are due next month and should provide a bit of back-bone to the share price. A good buy for anyone taking tentative steps back into the market. | skyship
19/6/2002 22:30 | Should see some action tomorrow hope to pick a few up myself. This is a very tightly held stock and small volume will send it flying!! imo | chicken
19/6/2002 20:22 | Okuta... Thats great news, thanks for info. Call me crazy (you are crazy- ed,) but I have bought a stock today, and that was Burtonwood Breweries Group at £2.694 (my real trade was 2,000 shares). This is an acquisitive pubs group, better known up north. Not only does the chart look fabulous, but the company is doing really well and there's the possibility of huge upside from here. Bears could argue the stock maybe has peaked and could fall from here but I feel the chances of a rise much higher than a fall, but I have gone for a fairly tight stop loss on this one. Burtonwood 2000 @ 269.4 SL 260 Tar 320 | 8 ball
19/6/2002 20:08 | Just having a look at this one after Robbie Burns on www.frequenttrader.i interesting.Good luck | okuta
09/6/2002 13:00 | Burtonwood buys and sells Burtonwood, the acquisitive brewing company, has witnessed some comings and goings in recent days with one director buying for his pension fund and another director selling shares to a colleague, writes Graeme Davies. First Bill Cran, a recently appointed non-executive director, stepped into the market and bought 23,738 shares at 260.5p yesterday, paying out £61,900 in the process. This gives him his first 0.11% of the £55.2 million company (BWB) . Meanwhile, at the end of last week chairman Richard Gilchrist bought 15,000 shares from non-executive director Richard Dutton-Forshaw at a price of 260p per share, paying him £39,000 for his troubles. This boosts his holding in the company to 2.02 million shares or 9.48%. Dutton-Forshaw's holding is reduced to 507,300 shares or 2.38%. The news of directors dealings seems to have excited investors who marked the share price up by 5p on Wednesday to 265.5p, unchanged today, its highest price for five years. This represents a solid recovery from a low of 209p in February. Last week Burtonwood announced the £16.9 million acquisition of 94 properties in Delaware USA from JER, a company from whom it had previously rented the properties. This news came just days after the company announced a 9.3% rise in pre-tax profits to £7.9 million from a 2.7% rise in sales. | 8 ball
05/6/2002 21:50 | This just gets better and better, Director buying share's. The price is now up to £2.64, tempted to cash in profit. | 8 ball
31/5/2002 18:45 | Skyship This looks to be a fantastic deal, and the market appears to agree. | 8 ball |
