24/3/2016 09:36 | Thanks for pointing out the ex-dividend. I wasn't paying attention on that one - but the comment still applies to miners being knocked back so hard straight away this morning. The FTSE 100 had approached a strong technical point where selling was likely to occur if it remains in a downtrend. It looks like the trading algorithms that make up 80% of volume these days decided it was time to sell the market again and chose to sell miners harder because they had risen the most in recent weeks. Is that a conspiracy? Nasty computers. Unless you know different? | aleman
24/3/2016 09:29 | Its Ex Dividend day today | bedruthan
24/3/2016 09:26 | Love the conspiracy theories - but it went ex div today | luffness
24/3/2016 09:22 | Mining Index down 3.4%. BRWM down 6.7%. THe discount here has already probably expanded to more than 18% again. Base metal prices and oil haven't actually moved a great deal. It has that feel of an organised speculative attack (hedge funds, computer algorithms?) not justified by fundamentals again - unless I've missed something? | aleman
21/3/2016 16:22 | No, yr not the only one racg | scottishfield
21/3/2016 16:13 | Base metals looking perkier today. Nothing spectacular but Zinc just hit an 8-month high. BRWM discount on Friday's close was 15.1% at 231.25p | aleman
18/3/2016 13:25 | Vertical lift there -- mmmmm, this is enjoyable to watch. | racg
17/3/2016 22:58 | The mining index was up 7.5% today so BRWM may have some catching up to do again. | hugepants
17/3/2016 10:13 | Very nice! | racg
17/3/2016 09:04 | Copper and oil just pushed through to 5-month and 3-month highs respectively. | aleman
17/3/2016 08:10 | miners on fire today, big rise coming here | silkywhite
17/3/2016 08:08 | Copper testing 5 month highs again. Rest of base metals mixed. Gold looking perky and oil testing 3-month highs. Generally looking positive for BRWM after more weak news from USA is softening interest rate projections for the Fed, despite inflation looking a bit stronger than expected. Of course, history says it would be unusual to get interest rate rises in election year. | aleman
16/3/2016 21:01 | Yellen, should give us a strong day tomorrow. | racg

15/3/2016 00:16 | sledin - I make that mistake regularly. All my other trusts pay quarterly and one might expect BRWM to pay like it's stablemate, BRCI - but it does not and I keep forgetting! That makes my post somewhat irrelevant. Please accept my apologies. | aleman
14/3/2016 20:15 | No not seen any RNS about that. Ale man may be surmising from the developments at BRCI or perhaps he knows that from somewhere else? Come on spill, Aleman. Always good posts Aleman, thanks! | racg
14/3/2016 19:16 | "My guess is we'll see 3+3+3+? where the final could be anything from 3 to 6" Have BRWM indicated they are moving to quarterly payments? | sledin
14/3/2016 14:40 | BRCI have announved a new dividend policy that I interpret as going from 6p to 1+1+1+?. (This year is now actually indicated as 1.5+1.5+1+1.) I expect we'll see something similar here. My guess is we'll see 3+3+3+? where the final could be anything from 3 to 6 - maybe even less than 3 should things turn nasty. It's just a guess. I doubt I have any better idea than the rest of you so don't blame me if I'm a bit out! | aleman |
