24/12/2008 09:05 | For Obama, the creation of this green team is part of a broader push toward economic and environmental self-enlightenment. He has expressed hope that engaging technology with environmental and energy policy will lead to significant job creation. | gsands
24/12/2008 09:00 | Great links RD. I am optimistic that Obama means business when it comes to climate change. To create a bubble in this sector could indeed put the global economy back on track. | gsands

10/12/2008 12:29 | Mo- it's not quite going to get there. But could this be the bottom that the green energy boom starts from? It seems to be that there are a few hurdles for this industry to jump over at the moment. the problem is that the price of energy is falling fast. Also, Governments seem more interesting in bailing out car manufacturers. Makes me furious. Why don't they give every household in this country a voucher with 50% off for a renewable energy installation - or green installation? Such as: 1. Thermal solar 2. Improved insulation 3. Water harvesting 4. Secondary glazing/double glazing etc. This would create jobs. Reduce carbon emissions. Encourage people to take out the other 50% from their savings account and spend it. Help people save money on their bills. Improve our energy security. Spark a strong long term trend which could ultimately pull us out of this slump. | gsands
