Tx Mk and NickB. MK in response to your question about Google’s comment: I’m pretty clear myself; people just didn’t think a manipulating video to this extent would ever be possible in a web browser using java script. That’s a huge compliment. It shows how advanced and efficient the codec technology is (not just in reducing the bandwidth, but but in reducing the number of compute cycles required to decompress and manipulate the video at the local end), and it’s also a reference to how the optimal solution is to do professional quality, frame accurate editing in a browser without any software to download or fast internet connections. I think they’re saying if it works, and it does, it’s clearly the optimal solution.

Pat Death kind of gives it away, but it's usually pretty fking bad for large companies, less impact on small caps.

"google is amazed" think i read a comment from google along the lines of 'we never even thought of doing it that way' and i wonder what that individual meant by that comment because it carries a lot of ambiguity: 1 it's impressive but i don't think that problem should be solved that way 2 that's the best way i've seen of solving that problem 3 i don't understand enough about the complexities of that particular problem to really know but it looks impressive so i better compliment it anyway in the context of them also saying it is amazing i think i would err on the side of 3. "hTTp://www.streamingmediaglobal.com/Sourcebook/Vimond-Media-Solutions-AS-3503.aspx Maybe MK can read the above and comment." i looked at the video it's hard to tell how they are doing it, so can't see how they can do frame accurate editing if they are using the standard codec for web playback in their gui for the video stuff. maybe they have a different meaning of frame accurate. also, it does depend in how you do it. you could on the gui specify you want an edit at frame 10 whilst on screen not being actually able to EXACTLY see that particular frame (because the codec can't produce that frame). based on the video in agree it looks more like a grabyo. agree also with nickb re xixi not caring which flavour editors they use, they just won't want to turn clients away because they don't support their favourite editing software. "So Vimond and Zixi have been knocking around a while. Maybe the question is why Zixi is now looking towards Blackbird and not vice versa." i think this is more on the money and probably vimond investors asking searching questions of themselves!

NickB. I'm not freaked out by it - just a little surprised and attempting to process the information. That's all. As I've said, I've no problem with the idea that someone has competitors, but having been told there were no direct competitors it comes as news - especially as they've signed with the same OEM channel that BB just did. Of course we're all enthused by the prospects now on the table with Blackbird and announcements of significant OEM deals have a bearing on the longterm performance of the business - and that's important to investors. I guess the piece of the jigsaw that's currently missing for those not properly in the loop (aka investors) is understanding what the ramification is of these OEM/partnership deals. We get that IM is excited when they happen, but for the likes of Zixi, are deals with BB significant, too? Does it allow them to access important new parts of the market or are partnership deals ten to a penny to the Zixi's of this world? So long as they're salient, and can interoperate through an API of some sort, then all are welcome? A little like I imagine AWS feel about its 10,000 partners. So, it's about gaining an understanding of the market dynamics. I'd have thought that would have been salient territory for an investor. On this point, I note with interest the first line of the article you found from a respected source says: "Blackbird represents some of the hottest property in the video software market right now." That's seriously encouraging ...!

NickB because I don’t think it’s a name any one on our board has heard before and they claim to be a native cloud editor and offer exactly the same as what we are all investing in. It’s not about freaking out it’s about knowing the market and competitors
