The project under the Alternative Framework Provider Contract involves fitting out the existing subway, including mechanical and electrical services, and breaking through to connect with the existing underground station. Dean Rollinson, Business Development Director of Birse Metro, said: "We see the project as an ideal opportunity to develop a working relationship with London Underground to deliver significant improvements to the railway. "We believe that we can utilise the skills and experience developed over the past 10 years working in the underground environment to deliver a first class project and assist London Underground in improving the safety and quality of the underground network." Work commences this month with completion in mid-2007. 17 May 2005 11:26 | donalduck

11/5/2005 08:15 | They obviously needed the cash to acquire... | mitchy
25/4/2005 19:55 | Less debt makes a more attractive buy out target toob?..he said clutching at straws.Good point toob, no real answer to that one. What we need is some 'insider' perspective on this board. Positive spin - the 8%+ divi must be assured for next year at least...ahem! | mitchy
25/4/2005 16:03 | Why is this a good price. It's only 1.6m above asset value, for a business that made 700k profit last time. They're selling the jewels. What's the business rationale for selling a profit-making business that's none risk and has a big element of captive market( ie yourself)? It can only be that you're desperate for cash. | toob
24/4/2005 11:49 | Absolutely, they achieved a very good price for the business. Think a rerating is on the cards. | hvs
22/4/2005 21:16 | The rise today suggests the market liked the price Birse got for that sale. More deals and contracts to beat market expectations to come? | mitchy
21/4/2005 10:01 | This mornings quote sizes are completely different and poor but you cannot beat the spread though. 11.78-11.80p spread....but 15k v 150k. Gravy | day_dreamer
19/4/2005 10:29 | 100k sell but a 250k buy...been a lot of large buys lately as i said yesterday and the mm's are slowly raising the quotes to try and get stock. Pretty good online spread of 11.88-12.1p for 75k both ways. Gravy | day_dreamer
19/4/2005 09:49 | All 5 mm's are now 11.5-12.25p. Gravy | day_dreamer
19/4/2005 07:43 | Perhaps Birse had a good day at court yesterday....total guess | mitchy
19/4/2005 00:04 | No comments..amazing ! A top riser on a very bad day....mm buying...protected trade at top price..major changes to L2 just before the close..3 mm's were bidding 11.5p and just one offering 12p and not one post ! I think this is going to move sharply higher tomorrow ! Gravy | day_dreamer
18/4/2005 16:21 | Backwardisation...lo | day_dreamer
18/4/2005 16:08 | Down to 15k offered online as well now..150k bid. Gravy | day_dreamer
18/4/2005 16:03 | 250k protected at highest offer price of 11.5p also. Lots of buying and mm's maybe getting squeezed here hence the rise, hope this is some insider buying as well, if this share has some good news then the upside from this low price would be great. Gravy | day_dreamer
18/4/2005 15:55 | Starting to look even better and that was enough to propell them right up onto leaders board. Spread great now..11.38-11.47p..1 Anybody awake ? Gravy | day_dreamer
18/4/2005 14:42 | Great quotes still after the rise ! 11.2p bid for 150k...11.42p offer for 50k. Gravy | day_dreamer
18/4/2005 13:45 | Some superb online quotes now in Birse ! The bid is 10.85p for 375k and the offer is 11.15p for just 50k so they have completely turned around and this could easily go blue in a sea of red today. If nothing is actually wrong then these are another company that looks extremely cheap but still a slight risk to them with the citibank case but without news on those quotes the price could well bounce. Gravy | day_dreamer
18/4/2005 07:29 | Almost 9% divi now...don't see that very often. With the larger market falling on higher oil prices, global slow down and interest rate rise threats it should be an interesting week. | mitchy
