18/4/2018 08:24 | Just seen the head honcho from cost Coffee on the bbc news spouting on about 500,000,000 plastic coffee cups being recycled by 2020 due to the company handing out loads of cash to waste collection agencies to collect the cups, what tosh. And where are we, are we on the case here, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. Come on Biome Technologies !!! .... | boldtrader
03/4/2018 09:51 | Spot on shareholders previously had to shame them into foregoing a bonus they were quietly paying themselves one year when performance was appalling. This is just a cash cow for senior board members and always has been. | begorrah88
31/3/2018 17:52 | I concur it's appalling how much they pay themselves bearing in mind they don't make a profit. Also they never talk about making a profit, just talk about increasing turnover. However, I do have a holding because I do believe in miracles !! | robward
31/3/2018 17:10 | I get the sense from older posts on here that's what's happened historically. A significant concern. | hydrus
31/3/2018 17:09 | The biggest issue with Biome is the Directors own hardly any of the company. Their interests are not aligned to shareholders. Between them they own less than 3.5% of the company. That would concern me as are they really going to be focussed on maximising growth and shareholder returns or will they just take safe decisions and keep their salaries and jobs, keeping the company ticking over? | hydrus
28/3/2018 18:06 | AGM date has been changed and brought forward a day. Anyone guess why? | jmf69

28/3/2018 07:30 | Deposit scheme seems very sensible to me. More enlightened countries been doing it for years. | someuwin
28/3/2018 07:23 | Mr Gove said the 5p levy put on plastic bags proves how effectively the UK can respond as consumption of single-use carrier bags is down 83%. That has got no relevance to the proposed idea on bottles so why it is mentioned seems strange. The tax on plastic bags was a no brainer that took many years for politicians to get their heads around. Now they are proposing a scheme that will cause much inconvenience and additional cost. The plastic bags scheme doesnt cause any inconvenience and cut waste by 83%. Those machines at the shops in Germany have problems. Not only queues but they stink and it takes a lot of time to put the bottles through and then they breakdown from time to time. Imagine you put a big bag of bottles in the car and when you get there the machine is out of order. | amt
28/3/2018 07:06 | I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:Drinks bottles and can deposit return scheme proposed - | jmf69
28/3/2018 07:02 | It is rumoured that Michael Gove is going to bring in a deposit of 22p on plastic bottles. Superficially this seems a good idea. In reality its daft. Most people already seperate out bottles in waste indeed as far as I know they have to otherwise the bin men will not take them. Having a tax means people have to take them to the shops to get money back. They have to spend time going through the process at the shop often waiting in a queue. Its a hell of an inconvenience I can tell you in Germany where I have experienced it. Tourists and visitors are penalised as you dont want to carry an empty bottle around with you so you put them in a the appropriate section of street bins and loose your deposit or worse people litter the countryside. At the end of all this nonsense the bottles just get back to where they would have gone to anyway but via the shops. If you add on the cost in time and extra fuel and installation and maintenance costs its absurd. Much better to invest in alternatives to plastic. The money to do the research can be contributed by the retailers instead of all the additional cost of this process. | amt
27/3/2018 20:10 | On a conservative basis sales of about 12m in 3 years time and ebitda of 1.5m assuming costs increase by .5m per year and margin remains at 50%. If that is achieved then on a pe of 20 that would give a share price of 12 quid in 3 years time. | amt
27/3/2018 08:34 | Yes exciting prospects without much downside in my view. | amt
27/3/2018 08:24 | Positive outlook with the RF division and new products adding to revenue in bioplastics towards the end of the year. This won't happen overnight, and as I have already held for a long time... continuing to hold in the hope this could really take off.Government legislation and consumer awareness should now drive the demand for bioplastics in to a multi-billion £ market. 27/3/2018 07:31 | They still made a loss of 10p per share though and it looks like on Stockopedia the forecast was for a healthy profit. Is their cost base fatty? | hydrus
27/3/2018 07:26 | A good point is that Biome bioplastic is mainly made from agricultural waste. One drawback of a move from petrochemically based plastic would be a greater reliance on 'grown' bioplastics which could put further pressure on rainforests and other natural ecosystems. This has been a major problem with biofuels. | volsung
27/3/2018 07:20 | Bioplastic is the buzz sector massive growth ahead onwards and upwards | kaka47
27/3/2018 07:19 | "We believe that Biome is now in transformation from a loss-making company with an interesting technology portfolio to a company with a stable financial outlook and strong growth potential. As we progress through the first quarter of 2018, I write against a very encouraging background for both of the Group's divisions. For the Bioplastics division, it is the increasing focus on plastic waste both in public opinion and amongst policy-makers. The need for alternatives is now clearly understood, providing encouragement for the future growth of bioplastic products. For the radio frequency (RF) division, it is the growing demand principally related to the roll-out of infrastructure investment in 5G telecommunications in Asia. With both divisions experiencing strong interest from existing and prospective customers, sales opportunities are increasing and we are using our experience to widen and deepen the range of products that will help deliver our objectives. As a consequence, we have decided to increase our people investment in both divisions to ensure we can meet these demands. | hamidahamida
27/3/2018 07:19 | Lots of great stuff, but this stands out:Bioplastics made a significant breakthrough in 2017 with the adoption by one US customer of its revolutionary bio-degradable mesh for coffee pods. That customer is in the process of converting its mesh needs to Biome's product exclusively and the financial impact of that will be felt in 2018. We are continuing with trials to encourage other producers to adopt our technology. We continue to develop innovations for the coffee-pod market, among others, and are currently in advanced trials to supply an improved ring product. If successful, this new product is expected to positively impact our second-half performance in 2018. | nithbank |
