06/12/2007 15:45 | Warwickshire move to recycle wasted foodDec 5 2007 By Steve Evans FAMILIES in Warwickshire will soon be able to recycle unwanted food instead of throwing it away. Unwanted food will be collected at the kerbside for composting, from next April. The county council has awarded a multi-million pound, 15-year contract to Biffa Waste Services to treat and compost food waste. The food will be collected with regular green waste and it will all be composted together. The system will be introduced in Warwick district next April and is expected to be extended to Stratford later in 2008, and then to Rugby. | markinthepark
06/12/2007 11:24 | I suspect that the Board are right to turn the second offer down. Severn Trent squeezed every last penny out of Biffa before they sold it ..............probab | ygor705

05/12/2007 20:53 | coogar I bought SORL in April at 50, they promptly slid to 30p. I bottled it and sold mid June for 50p. By November they were 138! XPT I bought at 33, stopped out at 30, few months later and they are 48. Biffa, could have scooped more at 220, twice, didn't having watched the drop from 340, picked up at 257 and watched again the drop. ACG, bought at 17 and 25, twice hit 34, didn't sell, back to 20. Very poor judgement!! It's annoying!! | ideal420

04/12/2007 21:22 | This is all true, but also remember margins are slim, oil is high and credit aint cheap. Which is about the only reasons its not be snapped up given all the other plusses. Happy to hold out for 380+ (just thankful that 1/10 stocks is currently blue.....now, wheres some cheap effect wood when you need it). | ideal420
04/12/2007 12:43 | Looking at the ever growing list of 8.3 messages/RNS's, seems that Biffa is in play, one way or another. I received a wedge free via the demerger from Severn Trent, and have been adding monthly (still do), via a SIPP. My first message on this board, forgive me if I'm stating stuff already posted. In fact I saw this as a long term investment, not so sure now, with all this activity. The post re Suez above is interesting, if their waste management business demerges, it seems likely that some European consolidation may happen. Each time I read stuff about the UK industry, Biffa comes out a winner on account of the landfill it already owns, as (I believe) it is no longer legal to purchase land and use for landfill. Brussels diktats etc, I presume. | damanko

The Lyon contract, which will run five years and produce sales of 45 mln eur, is a renewal and expansion of an existing contract for waste management and separation. 03/12/2007 11:39 | Part of the mail article; ." The industry source noted that, looking at other recent takeover deals in the waste disposal sector, an outcome in excess of 400p per share in any takeover bid for Biffa would be very unlikely | wad collector |
