29/11/2007 08:50 | New blood at Biffa.. | mitzis
28/11/2007 21:34 | i am a long term holder johne. i was a bit disappointed to have sold a bit earlier even though i left, like you, some amounts. i have decided to add around 280 but i missed it yesterday and missed the nice trading update. currently i am most overweight at rexam, astrazaneca and japanese investment trust all of them i am not making any profit. some more cash to come in in a few days and then i'll buy some attractive stocks. | watwungyi
28/11/2007 18:59 | Holts...Do you mean, if they were still interested why did they make that announcement, why not carry on quietly adding. I suppose they had to say something cos someone let the cat out of the bag and the share price was rocketing. Great day for holders, sob, sniffle. | theband
28/11/2007 15:47 | There has to be a reason for the info re the offer just before what they knew would be a decent set of results. | holts
28/11/2007 15:26 | Hi, handycam! Hooray for the Frogs, I say. Saved my bacon. I've had a chunk since the spin-off from SVT but had subsequently topped-up with rather unfortunate timing, so the latest fun & games has brought me back into the money. Bids? Bring 'em on! 8-) Regards, Ian | jeffian
28/11/2007 15:20 | Of course, Hg now has a slug of the due diligence presented before them and so will be able to make their final decision sooner rather than later. | handycam
28/11/2007 12:42 | So we all agreed a good hold or buy | peterz
28/11/2007 12:07 | 'remains committed to an investment in Biffa'. If Hg is not lying, then these will be worth sticking with. Mitzis, Never ever listen to Goldman's. That will hold you in good stead. | handycam
28/11/2007 11:37 | Could I ask for an agreed £4 bid before Xmas 2007 please? | markinthepark
28/11/2007 11:34 | Agree Wadcollector a solid company with a good chance of a bid next year making profits in a recession and plenty of cash flow what more do you want. | mitzis
28/11/2007 11:23 | Why sell now? The market is in a dip , the company results look solid , significant takeover chance and it is way below springs prices.I am going to sit on my hands at this price.Happy to hold long term. | wad collector
28/11/2007 10:56 | If Biffa was attractive in Sept then surely it will be more attractive with figs better than expected. Suspect a drop as people take profits from todays rise alongside the disappointment of the drop after speculation of buyout faded. Then a rise again as people see remaining takeover potential. | peterz
28/11/2007 10:14 | The Band,enjoy the S.African sunshine have a few beers for us. | 46pete
28/11/2007 10:03 | Cheers John, maybe that growth is morphing into Marje, including the hair would be nice :0) | theband
28/11/2007 09:33 | I thought you would be mitzis. Have you noticed, Bart Simpson has now got a large growth at the side of his head. We're not complaining though - it means we have more paper money with our name on it. Good luck matey theband, have a great time in South Africa - the markets will still be here, when you return. | johne1
28/11/2007 08:54 | No your not alone john Iam holding for at least another 12 months even if there is no bid . Goldman Sachs said they were worth 400p with a bid. | mitzis
28/11/2007 08:28 | 46Pete...unfortunate It makes you wonder what made Biff rally so strongly last night at 4.20, I can't accept it as pure speculation as to todays results, which are encouraging but as usual qualified. | theband
28/11/2007 08:22 | Judging by the volume of sells, (if my screen can be trusted to tell the truth), I think many have departed and left me on my own. I never fault anyone for taking profits. I do but, I always leave my core holding in place. By the way, it was fairly good fun yesterday, betting on the ups and downs. Anyone hanging in there with me? I will stay here long term. Good luck all, whatever you do. | johne1
28/11/2007 07:58 | Thanks HOLTS. | johne1
28/11/2007 07:57 | PRINCIPAL RISKS AND UNCERTAINTIES The Principal Risks and Uncertainties which could prevent Biffa from achieving its objectives or otherwise affecting its value and the controls put in place around them were set out in the 2007 Annual Report and Accounts (available on our website at www.biffa.co.uk). An annual process is conducted to identify and evaluate risks and their consequences and the controls. This includes reports every six months from the Chief Executive Officer to the Board on developments in the arrangements for managing risks. The risks and uncertainties include: - Our service offerings may fail to react to legislative and market dynamics; - The technologies we choose to employ may fail to deliver expected performance; - An uncontrolled chemical reaction may occur at a Special Waste facility; - There may be a lack of leadership continuity; - An Operator's Licence in one or more of our regions may be suspended or withdrawn; or - Civil and/or criminal proceedings arising from a breach of Heath & Safety or Environmental legislation could lead to financial loss or reputational damage. No significant changes have been identified to those risks, some or all of which have the potential to impact our results or financial position during the remaining 26 weeks of the financial year. Martin Bettington, will step down on March 31 2008. - There may be a lack of leadership continuity; | davidoj
28/11/2007 07:56 | 0753 GMT [Dow Jones] Biffa (BIFF.LN) 1H figures look quite good, but this is in line with guidance in the company's pre-close statement, says trader. "The main point of interest of course will probably be the significance of departure of CEO," he adds.
