--Initial bids for BHP Billiton's U.S. shale portfolio have been pitched at between $7 billion and $9 billion, and potential buyers include BP PLC and Chevron Corp., reports Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources.
--BHP is expecting proceeds of $10 billion for its preferred single-unit sale or up to $13 billion if it sells the assets piecemeal as bidding advances through further rounds, according to Bloomberg.
