UBS has downgraded its recommendation on Rio Tinto from 'neutral' to 'sell' with a target price maintained at 5,100p, implying a potential 12% downside for the Anglo-Australian mining company's stock.

In the summary of its research note, the broker highlights 'risks to iron ore growth with a more hawkish stance by the US Federal Reserve and measures by China to deflate commodities...'.

Dropped to 1,980 at about 8:30 this morning Adrian.
Have topped up with this twice now since £24 high on 10 May.
Seems to be in almost freefall. Imagime i might go again at, maybe, the 1,950 mark.

You think the drop is mainly due to copper prices?

Just a few stats......
Since start of year share price has had 3 low points;
29/Jan @ £20
25/Mar @£20.21
& 25/May @ £20.68
The two high's between these low's have been £23.56 & £24.00 respectively.

Is this a 'range' with a bottom c20.30/20.40?

Have penciled in to top up @ circ. that figure, if no bad news announced.
Yield is @ 5.4% now at £21

IF IT CAN HOLD ABOVE THE APPARENT STRONG SUPPORT OF 2069p then one might expect a trend up if news in coming days is positive

Thanks waldren, much appreciated.

Agree with the strengths

Very low prospects for revenue growth;
Most, if not all, western economies are predicting massive growth post pandemic.
Bigger than anything seen since WW2 in fact

Am in @ 1,999 & 2,130 respectively. May top up if sub £20 again.

Not many people posting on here recently, but could be a few watching.

Can anyone shed any light on why the share price has taken a 12% drop from £24 on 10th May to £20.92 as i type today?

Thanks in advance
