12/2/2015 08:48 | Unless something really crazy happens at the last minute, like The Ukrainian President trips and knocks over Putin by accident and a simmering scuffle breaks out, It looks like my hunch that some progress will be announced from the talks. Consequently, might we see O&G sector rally a bit, with of course emphasis on BGG? That seems most likely. Although of course I wouldn't bet on the shooting to actually stop.... Topicel | topicel
11/2/2015 17:00 | Well I'm expecting a breakthrough with these talks and a rebound in oil and gas prices as a result of perceived calm. Whether it turns out to be just another fudge or sticking plaster that simply won't be adhered to, well, time will tell. OPEC deciding that the shale players have been squeezed enough will be the real catalyst for a return to form for BGG as oil begins to gain in price again. We'll see; today's share price trend here has broken the recent pattern however, so maybe £9 is coming again? Topicel | topicel
11/2/2015 11:06 | A solution seems unlikely. The 2 sides in Ukraine are implacably opposed and the US and Russia are never going to agree - US will not condone border change by armed aggression, and Russia cannot be seen to abandon the rebels who see themselves as Russians. Just IMHO. And isn't Russian oil impacting the market now, through deals with China? Not sure about this... BG probably one of the less affected cos. Helge Lund may have moved just at the right time as I think Norway will be hit by fall in N Sea work. | bigbertie
11/2/2015 09:18 | Any views on the Ukraine situation and how it will impact on BG.? Hopefully a solution will be good for all O&G outfits, but in some ways I'm not so sure as lifting or lessening of sanctions towards Russia as a result of a descalation would perhaps mean more of a global glut with Ruskie oil coming back onto the market. It is the LNG demand that also gives BG. More hope of a steady climb in 2015 and hence most broker coverage is either buy or even overweight... Topicel | topicel
