MIATA - I think the rally in the share price over the course of the day is because Finlayson has gone. Probably the best spread bet day trade I've seen all year - as usual I missed it!

Yes, all going pear shaped. However, after this warning they are valued nearly double that of Shell and BP on a profits basis. Amazing the price has risen today. Looks to be on a very lofty valuation already and yields 1.6%. Forward P/E was 16 but now more. Be nice if BP and BG could tie up to create a better and bigger operation, but difficult to see how this could work given the cheap rating that BP has.

BG could be a nice takeover target.

BG has an EV of $75bn.

RDS is four times the size, Chevron is three times, Total and ENI both dwarf BG, whilst Exxon is valued at an EV of $457bn.

BG Group delivered a double blow to investors as it announced the departure of Chief Executive Chris Finlayson and warned its 2014 production levels would be at the lower end of expectations due to challenges in Egypt.

Can anyone explain why BG is on a P/E of 16, whereas BP and Shell are on a P/E of 10? It doesn't make sense to me, given BG seems to have gone ex-growth.

Burn out after a v good run lately or having a little pull back before going forth. I sold out at 11.30. Perhaps this was a bit early however I had made a decent profit from 10.20. hopefully should push to at least 12.00 imo in near term. If it beaks this level in s back in.

BG Group today announced it has been awarded new exploration acreage offshore Myanmar. BG Group will operate two blocks, A4 and AD2 (45% and 55% equity respectively). The company also secured non-operated acreage in blocks A7 and AD5 (45% equity in each). These are located in the Rakhine Basin, in the western offshore area of Myanmar and were awarded as part of the government's 2013 Offshore Bid Round.BG Group and its bidding partners have committed to a 3D seismic acquisition programme in each block, which we expect to begin in 2014/15 with options for future drilling.This award is in line with BG Group's strategy to focus on securing prospective frontier acreage and enter, on average, one new basin each year.-ends-
