Repsol LNG sale to Shell reported after the close yesterday at a price of $4.4bn cash plus debt and lease commitments equalling $6.7bn total. Broker comment from a few months ago. Repsol, read through to BG Group – The read through for BG Group is especially relevant given the shared ownership of Atlantic LNG . Although Repsol's LNG portfolio is fully invested and thus has a very attractive free cash flow profile, we believe that BG Group's LNG portfolio should command a multiple premium to Repsol's because BG Group's portfolio is growing, Repsol's portfolio has no identifiable growth and 2012 represents peak earnings. BG Group's portfolio is almost 3x the scale of Repsol's , Repsol LNG 2012E adjusted EBITDA $1.2bn versus BG Group's EBITDA $3.2bn. BG Group operates Atlantic and Egypt LNG; Repsol only controls the Canaport terminal. BG Group is the market leader – once QC LNG is operational (2014), both portfolios will have efficient supply capabilities to both the Atlantic and Asia Pacific. Our NAV for BG Group's LNG business is $19.4bn or 350 pence per share – this equates to a 2012E EV/EBITDA multiple of 6.1x. If Repsol sells its LNG business for an equity value of €2.5bn, this would imply a 2012 EV/EBITDA multiple of 7.5x which is 22% above BG Group's LNG NAV implied multiple. As we have reasoned, we believe that BG Group's LNG business merits a higher multiple. Furthermore, BG Group trades at a 40% discount to our NAV of £17. So, we feel that this transaction could be a positive trigger for BG Group .

Tanzania: British Firm Says Revenue From Gas Due After 10 Years 24 February 2013 Prospects of the country earning more from gas will likely come true by 2020/21 as more companies are undertaking appraisals on the exact quantity of gas deposits found in the country and whether or not they warrant commercial extraction. Speaking in Dar es Salaam last Thursday, British Gas (BG) East Africa president and Assets General Manager, Derek Hudson and Dr Antony Wyatt from Robert Gordon University, said the public should not expect revenue flowing to the Treasury any time soon. "We expect to start paying government revenue by 2020/21 financial year if everything goes well," said Mr Hudson. He said BG Tanzania which is a subsidiary of BG Group of Britain and its partner, Ophir Enegry Plc, have so far invested 2 billion US dollars. "We expect to start testing of our gas finds in Mtwara very soon," said Hudson, a Trinidad and Tobago national whose country first discovered oil in 1908 but took over 20 years before revenue started flowing to the government. http://m.allafrica.com/stories/201302240152.html/

Interesting article on the BBC news last night about all the power stations that are having to close and those left open are going to have to turn to Gas power for the distant future...because of this gas prices are rapidly going to rise. Director buys here recently tell me the story....load up here at this very cheap price.

Bloomberg: "BG Said to Work With Goldman Sachs on Sale of Australian Assets" 20th february BG Group Plc, the U.K.'s third- largest oil and natural gas producer, is working with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as it considers selling pipelines and other equipment at its Australian liquefied natural gas project, said two people with knowledge of the matter. BG is studying the sale of assets around the plant on Curtis Island in Queensland state, the people said, asking not to be identified as the details are private. The infrastructure around the project includes a 540-kilometer (336-mile) pipeline to carry coal seam gas from Surat Basin to the processing plant. The Reading, U.K.-based explorer is trying to balance record capital spending on fields from Australia to Brazil with lower-than-expected oil and gas production. The company this month said it is targeting $8.1 billion of asset sales by the end of 2013. A spokesman at QGC, BG's Brisbane-based unit, referred questions to the company's headquarters in London. Hayley Morris, a spokeswoman for Goldman Sachs in Sydney, declined to comment. BG plans to build two processing units at the plant near Curtis Island, more than 300 kilometers north of Brisbane, with a combined capacity of 8.5 million metric tons of LNG a year. The facility is due to start fuel shipments next year, the company has said. BG said in May the cost for building the project, which will convert coal-seam gas to LNG for shipment to overseas markets, had jumped 36 percent to $20.4 billion because of gains in the Australian dollar and rising labor expenses. China National Offshore Oil Corp. in November agreed to pay $1.93 billion to increase its stake in the LNG project to 50 percent from 10 percent. The deal also included a contract for BG to supply the Chinese company with 5 million metric tons a year of LNG for 20 years, starting in 2015.
